Myrtle Beach National Golf Club - King's North Course
About
For years, the King's North Course at Myrtle Beach National has been the most requested and best recognized golf course on the Grand Strand. The par-3, third hole with its island green and South Carolina-shaped sandtraps has become the signature hole for Myrtle Beach. King's North features some dramatic and unique holes. The par-5 sixth hole is nicknamed "The Gambler" and features an unusual island fairway which offers golfers a risk-reward short-cut to the green for a chance at eagle. The 18th hole, nicknamed "The Bull's-eye" by Golf Magazine, is a sight to behold. More than 40 sandtraps guard either side of the fairway and the green reaches out into a lake offering, at times, a very tempting pin placement.

MBN North
Course was in great shape. It was high 50s in December which wasn’t bad. Lots of green grass from over seeding. Loved the layout. Everything was perfect. Had a bit of slow play in front of us but we eventually were let through and the pace was great. Will definitely go back there. If you’re down there around now, it should be in excellent shape.
Great Course
Really enjoyed course. Great layout and in great shape. Staff were very friendly
Risk and reward
I have played several Arnold Palmer signature courses And by far this course Has got One of the nicest layouts I played. Conditions were remarkable considering it was off season. the greens ran true And we're not crazy fast. What I really liked was it gave you the option on many holes Of going for it or playing safe.
Rainy play
Didn’t know what to expect as a first time visitor: my brother in law and I played as a twosome on a 9am tee. Arrived promptly. Clubhouse and Pro Shop great spots. Starter and all staff were friendly and helpful. I rented a bag and it was affordable. Got to play with brand new clubs even though I forgot to call ahead. The course was in great shape. It started to heavy rain and lasted for maybe 2 holes. By the time we got to the next green we could already tell the course was draining really well. The rain did not affect play. Would absolutely recommend the north course to anyone. My brother and law and I are very much amateurs and the course was a fun challenge for us without feeling defeated.
Great condition
Course is in great condition. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were immaculate. Pace of play was really good for the amount of golfers at the course. Course had lots of challenges, but did reward good shots. Highly recommend playing.
Fun Course will play again next time in Myrtle
The course was in great shape, greens were a little slow because of overseeding but can't fault the overall experience for that. The wind was blowing around 15mp and the water holes became new owners of about 6 Pro-V1's but all in was a fun day. The pace of play was good, would have been excellent if not for the double teeing as we had to wait at the turn for about 20 minutes but the breakfast sandwich I got during this time was fantastic.
Fun Layout That Requires Thought . . . But Slow Pace. ;-(
Only one complaint about this course: Lack of Course Marshalls to keep everyone moving along. A 5+ hr is not fun. However, this seems to be the main theme in most Myrtle Beach courses. No one seems to care.
We found the course to have generous fairways with the right mix of forced water carries and layup shots. Angles to the greens were an important part of the play so that will appeal to the 'thinking man' rather than the 'grip it, rip it' player.
Course conditions were very good with only a few spots where some grass/TLC was needed. Bunkers were excellent. Tee boxes were - who cares anyway, they were good enough.
Staff in and outside the clubhouse were excellent. We actually felt like guests!
Excellent Condition
Played on a Thursday. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Course was very crowded and the pace of play was a little slow on the front nine but the staff did a great job and everything was good on the back.
First time and Loved playing Kings North
Great course layout with good conditions. Many different hole designs with lots of water and bunkers. Better be straight and accurate. A fair test of golf for sure. Will be adding MB National Courses to my yearly trip.
Great Find
I had been searching for a course while on a weekend getaway for our 4-some. Two of us are pretty regular golfers and the other two not. We opted for King’s north due to its tee time availability and from calling around to several courses we did not have concern for course condition due to aerated fairways or greens (Note - they punch their course in the off season so in the prime time you don’t have to be concerned about it!)
All in all, we had a great time. There definitely are some challenging holes due to the layout of sand traps or water hazards, but hey, that’s part of the game!
All in all the condition was overall great. The greens rolled true, the fairways were very nice, there were only a handful of tee boxes that needed a little love.
The pace of play for 8 am was alright, not fast by any means, but not too too slow. We finished the round in about 4.5 maybe closing in on 5 hours. The group ahead of us was a tad slow, and the group behind us started to play up on us a few times - which we asked them to pump their breaks a little, and they complied.
My favorite MB golf course
Let me first say that I have visited Myrtle Beach for golf trips too many times to count over the past 40+ years. Without a doubt, King’s North at Myrtle Beach National remains my favorite course. Conditions are always excellent. This visit did not disappoint either. Lush fairways, well manicured greens and tee boxes made for a memorable experience.
While certainly not the top end of the premium golf courses available in the area, the value experience for the money is worth every dollar. Staff are friendly as well.
Can’t wait for another visit in the future and will definitely play multiple times if the schedule permits.
