Now in its third year, a big turnout is expected for this year's annual Summer Golf ParAm, presented by Walters Golf in Las Vegas.
This year's tournament will be held Aug. 10 at the Pacific-themed Bali Hai Golf Club, located right on the Las Vegas Strip.
The concept is a play on words of the traditional Pro-Am. In this case, the benefit for each group isn't pros, but rather the ParMate caddies who work at Bali Hai Golf Club as well as Royal Links Golf Club and Desert Pines Golf Club. ParMates differ from regular caddies in that they are all women and gorgeous and pretty good at shepherding players around the golf course. More than anything, they're great company.
"The turnout over the last couple years has been spectacular, and again, we are expecting a full field, sellout of this event," said Josh Hill, Corp. Vice President of Marketing for Walters Golf in Las Vegas. "What is truly great about this event is the fact that it is for the everyday weekend golfer. The combination of a championship golf course filled with beautiful ParMates and three days of partying makes this the only sure bet in Las Vegas."
Players who opt for the whole package are getting so much more than just playing golf. While the golf part is certainly enjoyable, it's the unique extras that make this event special.
Perks include two nights at the MGM Grand Resort & Casino, one ParMate per foursome, access to the live ParMate auction, limo transportation to and from Bali Hai, VIP Access to Wet Republic and Tabu, and several other benefits. The price is $325. If player opts to just play in the tournament, without all the added extras, the cost is $175.
You don't have to get a team together to play. You can play as an individual, with a buddy or with a couple of friends if you like. At the end, there will be prizes for the winners and plenty of other bonuses for all participants.
Part of the festivities will include a ParMate auction before the round of golf. Teams can bid on their ParMate caddies, which is for gratuity purposes only. Then they will have their ParMate for the rest of the round.
Bali Hai is unlike any other golf club in Las Vegas. The Schmidt-Curley design, which can be stretched to 7,000 yards, has more than 2,500 palm trees, acres of crystal white sand and plenty of water features, including streams and fountains. It's also in impeccable condition. Memorable holes include the island-green par-3 16th and the 486-yard par-4 finishing hole. The 18th features a green that's guarded by a huge bunker and pond.
