You must have never been to Santee. One thing is for sure- there is plenty to do in Santee for all of the family- camping, fishing, hiking, cycling the Palmetto Trail, swimming, numerous historical sites to visit, shopping, delicious foods...something for everyone.

There are 18 golf courses within 45 minutes of Santee. Santee Cooper Lakes offers the finest fishing in the country known throughout the world. The hunting in Santee Cooper Country is boundless with deer. There are many shops. Elloree, just 7 miles from Santee is full of antique shops and holds a sidewalk sale every 2nd Saturday of the month.

And yes, for those who are interested there is plenty of night-life. By your descriptions- you've never been here before. Maybe you should write about what you know instead of wasting peoples time reading your inaccurate column.

As a Hilton Head South Carolina (SC), I would agree with your assessment, however, I think that $48 could produce even better courses in the Lowcountry

It is apparent that you probably are not a really golfer. Santee has plenty to offer when it comes to golf. The golf association I am a member of has been going to Santee for at least 5 years or more. It is a great fall trip, the price is right for a bunch of guys to get together and have a good time. Last year alone I booked a trip there for 54 golfers, we had a wonderful time and the folks at Southern Golf Tours gave us a great golf package. For the food and night life the resturant next to Howard Johnsons has great steak and out of this world Cajum food. For the other night life you mention, yes they could have better dancers, but you could say that about any club like that.
