Stalking the best year-ending deals on golf clubs

The Cheap Bastard follows other golf bloggers closely. Unfortunately, Heather McMichael said it was too closely and now I can’t come within 500 feet of her.

However, I did see Golf Blogger make reference to a deal on low-priced clubs, so I figured I’d take a look. What I found was a blowout clearance sale of many of this year’s top models at the Golf Warehouse.

Being that the Cheap Bastard is often in trouble on the course and off, I immediately took a fancy to a TaylorMade Rescue Mid Wood for just $130. I’ve been keeping my eye on this club and watched as it has slowly come down to Earth, price-wise.

So take this advice from El Cheapo: Just like cars, when the new models start coming out, last years’ efforts tend to go into freefall. Whether online or at your local sporting goods store, the clubs of your dreams may be within reach.

Golfsmith is also selling the TM Rescue Mid for $129, graphite or steel shaft.
Even before they went on sale at the golf stores, Costco's had 'em for $150.

Costco also frequently has great deals on golf balls and other golf related items. I recently picked up a three-pack of gloves for $15.

discover 2nd Swing golf shops--used/traded eqpt. You could have gotten that rescue club in like new condition for about $79.00 and traded in your 2 and 3 irons to boot!!

Good point, blopar. That also falls into the "end-of-the-year" discount rule, as many people who upgrade either trade or sell their clubs.

Still, there's a lot of people out there who just don't want to use a used club. Maybe they fear that the previous owner put too many miles and sucky shots on them.
