Fiesta Bowl will be great, new Phoenix Card greater
Thursday December 15, 2005 | 12:51:03 286 words, 1519 views
The Cheap Bastard loves football, despite the fact he was used as a tackling dummy on his high school football team. And despite the fact that they have to endure rooting for the NFL’s Cardinals, Arizona should love football, as well. Especially college football, because the Fiesta Bowl is rolling into the Tempe area, and it’s bringing more than just two great schools in Ohio State and Notre Dame. It’ll also bring about $200 million to the Arizona economy. But economy, schmonomy. What’s this mean to you? Well, if you want to go to the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2, most the tickets are sold out, so you can always try getting a ticket on eBay for $600 or so. Or, you can visit the nearby Phoenix area anyway, enjoy the parties, and take advantage of a new deal the city of Phoenix has created. Replacing the “Residents Card” is the “Phoenix Card,” which will allow residents and non-residents alike get year-round discounted rates on Phoenix city courses like Cave Creek and Encanto. Aside from that, the $40 you put out for the card will get you a free Phoenix golf cap, as well as a coupon for 2-for-1 golf, if you purchase a card before Jan. 15. For frequent golfers and frequent visitors, it’s a deal that will easily pay for itself several times over. And by the way, I see Wolfrum has written a story on college football and where you can golf near bowl games. A good enough story by Wolfrum (who could probably update his photo more than once every nine years), but he picks Ohio State to beat Notre Dame. No chance, Touchdown Jesus will lead the way, and the Irish will blow out the Buckeyes, 31-14. Comments:Leave a comment: |
