Costa Rica ready for another April of golfing and surfing

Surfing and golfing go together like sky-diving and chess. They just don’t seem to mesh and very likely draw different types of people – those who don’t mind being crushed against the rocks by the ungodly power of the ocean, and those that golf.

Unless, of course, you’re in Costa Rica. All bets are off there, where you can spend your days surfing and golfing and your nights crumpled in agonizing pain like the Cheap Bastard.

But not everyone believes that eating Chocodiles (the greatest food in the history of foods) is considered a form of exercise. Some people, like surf legend Robert August, think you need to get off your duff and get active, both for fun and charity.

Starting April 6, for the sixth consecutive year, August will be holding the Robert August Surf & Turf, a massive party that will have team competitions both in the water and on the greens. Held this year at Playa Tamarindo, the golf will take place at the Hacienda Pinilla Golf Course.

Four-person teams are required to get in on the competition, with entry fees of $200. And sure, maybe it’s not technically a budget deal, but with proceeds going to help Tamarindo Orphanage, the Grammer School at Villa Real, and the Tamarindo Lifeguards, August is once again showing why he’s a favorite of Costa Ricans.

For more information on Costa Rica, contact Costa Rica Golf Adventures at (877) 258-2688 or check out their Web site. To enjoy the charity surf and golf competitions, e-mail them at brennan@endlessfun.com or check out their Web site.
