Visit Hershey: Where golf and chocolate find common ground

Many scoffed at the Cheap Bastard’s long quest to find the mysterious and lost city of Twinkie. They were right, of course, as it really was a silly idea.

What’s not a silly idea is to spend some quality time in the city of Hershey. Yes, Hershey, Pennsylvania, where even the chocolate is smothered in chocolate.

Now, for golfers with families, Hershey is as close as you can come to actually taking a vacation in a pie. A pie with golf courses. And the town is right there with you, with deals waiting.

Hershey’s new Family Golf Package is the way to enjoy both the links and sweetness of Hersheypark, Hershey Gardens and Hershey Museum. Luckily, there are many Hershey Restrooms nearby to help those who completely lose it on chocolate.

For golfers, there are a couple good opportunities to lose it: Hershey Country Club will appeal to the hardcore golfers looking for a challenge, while Spring Creek Golf Course is ready to show off its family friendly renovations.

OK, Hershey isn’t always known to be the cheapest vacation destination, but check out their Web site or call (800) Hershey (437-7439) to find out what kind of deals you can swing with spring and summer on their way.

Just remember the positives of taking your children to the “Sweetest Place on Earth.” They’ll have memories and dental decay to last a lifetime and won’t end up like the Cheap Bastard, who is getting ready to go on an excursion to locate the legendary lost island of Ding-Dong.

Hershey does have great golf. Too bad their chocolate is so terrible. Compared to Belgian or Swiss chocolate (or hand-crafted US chocolate), Hershey's is like eating sawdust.

I agree with Kiel.....Hershey kisses/candy/cardboard....compared to York
England made Cadbury bars. No comparison.
But I will agree that there are some fine
courses in/near Hershey. I played several
times at former Congressman Gekas' fund raiser up there and it was always GREAT.
