Win an Odyssey White Steel Putter, enjoy new golf book 'Sudden Death'

The Cheap Bastard loves to read. Why just yesterday, yours truly was flipping through the pages of Maxim, reading an eye-opening feature on the “Jiggliest Jigglers in Jigglytown.” It was the type of thing that made a young Bastard think: “Wow, I really should read more.” Speaking of reading, I just saw that writer Michael Balkind has a new golf/suspense novel coming out. It’s called “Sudden Death” and it’s the first book of “The Deadly Sports Mystery Series.” Sudden Death follows Reid Clark, the leader of the PGA Tour, as he plays in tournaments while dealing with the anguish of multiple death threats. Multiple death threats. Now there’s something the Cheap Bastard can relate to. So I’ll be picking up a copy. I’ll also be heading over to Balkin’s Web site, because, until October when the book is released, he’ll be giving away a free Odyssey White Steel Putter every month, as well as a free autographed copy of the book. All you need to do to register is head over to www.balkindbooks.com and click the “Enter Here to Win” link. There probably won’t be too much jiggling in “Sudden Death” but that’s ok. Some good golf fiction counts as reading too, I hear. If you want more information on upcoming golf books, jiggle on over to the WorldGolf Wire book section. Comments:

What a bland name...Reid Clark. How anglo! What about Vincenzo Amaretto or Keldonis Amaratsu, or K.J. Choi, for that matter? Or even Mr. C.P. Bas-Tard. All better than Reid Clark. Did you read chapter one online? "The unique sound of Reid Clark’s golf ball hitting the bottom of the cup was, without question, the most
satisfying sound he could hear." Uses the word "sound" twice in the first sentence. Uses two boring, trite adjectives to describe the sound. Lot of hope for this one. I'll be back with final judgement.

If you're looking for a fast-paced, golf-themed thriller, check out Bingo
Bango Bongo. "What happens on the golf course, stays on the golf course." www.matthewdunn.net/BingoBangoBongo.htm Since you're a Cheap Bastard, I'd be happy to send you a free copy to review for your legion of fans. Thanks for keeping it real, CP. Matt

I never realized there was so much golf fiction around. I just finished reading Lifetime Loser by James Ross, and now it seems everywhere I turn I'm finding all kinds of golf suspense novels. But that's okay. I like reading and I love golfing, so being able to combine the two in a good book suits me just fine.
