Vegas Strip Clubs Sidewalk Marketing

Anyone who’s been to Las Vegas in the last 20 years has no doubt walked the gauntlet of guys handing out strip club promotional material. And if you haven’t been to Vegas in 20 years, the campaign goes on.

Give me break. It’s the 21st Century. Strip clubs haven’t figured a better way to market their product than to thrust their cards into the hands of passing pedestrians? Does anyone still think this is working? No one takes the cards from the poor guys trying to hand them out. And the rare fool from Utah who does just ends up dropping it onto the sidewalk within a block or two.

I have nothing against Las Vegas strip clubs or the guys trying to pick up some cash by standing there, leering at women and slapping the cards dramatically against their hands to woo the occassional fool from Utah. I just have an issue with the stupidity of Las Vegas strip clubs. Strips clubs in every other city in America have figured out this may be the easiest way to annoy your potential customers. There are plenty of strip clubs in New York, but you’re not going to be followed around and badgered into taking a glossy card from any of their employees on the streets.

Move on. Buy an ad and get it stuck in the back pages of the sports section like reputable strip joints everywhere. Get one of those cheesy late-night TV spots. Hire Andrew Dice Clay as your “celebrity” endorser. Do something.

I realize I am a month late, however, I still have a comment. The immigrants on the street are handing out hookers phone numbers and work for an agency. The strip clubs are not the ones handing these out.
