MGM Grand's New Sports Book Equals Blah

Saturday March 26, 2005 | 17:07:13 170 words, 1706 views
Win a free golf book!

Just in time for that unique three-weekend, Vegas-holiday of March Madness, the MGM Grand unveiled its revamped, revitalized sports book. After several trips (for research of course), the first word that comes up to mind in summing up this great step forward is…blah.

The sports book is nice enough, but it’s not close to the worthy of Caesars Palace or Mandalay Bay. Even with the row of cushy chairs in the back, it’s too scrunched in. It’s just not impressive enough. If you are going to make something new in Vegas today, it had better be bigger, gaudier and snazzier than the other guys’. Otherwise, what’s the point?

There was one high note to my MGM Grand experience. I thought I’d finally stumbled upon the identity of the Rebel Blogger. Alas, it turned out to be homeless guy who’d wandered in for the street, still wearing his 1940’s hat. He did saw he enjoyed reading National Golf Editor Tim McDonald back then though.

Talk about disappointing. The Aladdin's sports book was pathetic. 3 rows of seats and 8 27" tv's? Lame. Stay away from that one. My favorite is the Mirage. Perhaps because of the waitress....
