Annika Sorenstam's moment going, going ... already gone ... Pinehurst all the rage

So Annika Sorenstam dominates another LPGA major, gets halfway to the grand slam and … all anyone’s talking about is the men’s U.S. Open. Even Kato had a bigger window of fame.

The only one talking about Sorenstam on the radio is our own Jennifer Mario. And Danica Patrick, one of those hot women athletes who actually get attention because they market around their sex appeal, had to be included in that conversation.

Even Mark Nessmith, who attempted to feign interest in LPGA good news moved on to the U.S. Open at Pinehurst faster than Tom Cruise jumps on a couch.

Are you kidding me? If Tiger won the first two legs of the Grand Slam (not the Tiger Slam) in this fashion, they’d be building statues to him at golf courses everywhere. Then again, people actually care about the PGA Tour.

I’d like to say I watched Sorenstam’s run at history and Michelle Wie’s step up, but I’d be lying. I tried to catch some after a round of golf in Cancun, but the resort bartenders looked at me like I was crazy. Meanwhile, I could watch the Booz Allen to my heart’s content.

The sad thing is I would have gotten the same reaction in plenty of U.S. clubhouses.
