Benefits of 115 degrees in Scottsdale/Phoenix: A Pete Dye for $13.50

Sure, the temperature’s hovered between 108 and 117 for the last two months straight in the Phoenix-Scottsdale resort corridor. Sure, stepping outside feels like stepping into an oven that’s been preheated for a while. Sure, even that dry heat argument is out the window with it being monsoon season (a hopeful desert term for a few plops of rain) and the usual 10-15 percent humidity shooting up to 30-35 percent (you’re sweating in this 115, in any 115 for that matter).

But where else but in heat hell can you play a Pete Dye course for $13.50?

That’s the rate the Karsten Golf Course - a Dye links design on Arizona State University’s campus - is charging after noon in response to the heat wave (when it lasts two months it’s more deathgrip than wave) in this golf mecca.

It’s the kind of pricing that has groups crammed together in 115 degrees. Karsten’s only committed to the price – half off its usual summer afternoon rate – through July.

But expect it to continue if the heat does.

Remember this is a Dye though. This may not be the designer you want to play with tempers already at the boiling point. This is no relaxing sauna.

For the complete story on playing a Dye in 115, stay tuned to TravelGolf.com.

Its actually $12.50 on Wednesday and its a great time! Golf is 50% off, some retail and food and beverage. We took four buddies out and had a great time with golf, food and beverage for less than $100.00. They even gave us cold towels on the course!!!
