Jason Gore is no John Daly, win at 84 Lumber Classic regardless

People love to compare Jason Gore to John Daly because they’re both fat, eccentric guys who know how to tell a good everyman story. The Gore as the new John Daly campaign is likely to only pick up steam now that Gore’s won a PGA Tour event (the 84 Lumber Classic on Sunday). But it’s a whole lot of baloney (which come to think of it, might be a big component of both the Daly and Gore diet). Gore is not close to as talented as Daly. It’s hard to imagine him ever winning a major. Gore is also not close to as crazy as Daly. It might be even harder to imagine him yo-yoing in and out rehab, regarding Marlboros like most people regard drinking water and marrying into a family that becomes a target of a federal drug probe. John Daly is the clear winner in the game of golf. Jason Gore is a much surer bet in the game of life. Bookmark/Search this post with:

Golf is a mental game and Jon Daly only plays well when he's mentally fit which is'nt very often, he routinely quits on rounds, Jason will never quit on anything it's just not in his nature, but a major is, the only question left is when?

This is one of the most irresponsible blogs I've ever read. Baldwin's over-simplified characterization of Daly is typical of a writer who prizes shock-value over insight. It is also amazing that Balwin can watch Gore prove himself as a winner on the Nationwide tour, step up to the PGA tour and win almost immediately, and earn himself a final pair start for the fourth round of the US Open, but he can't imagine him ever winning a major. I guess that shouldn't surprise anyone. If this blog is representitive of his work imagination isn't the only thing he is lacking.

John Daly probably feels like his life is pretty good traveling the country in his mega bus with his wife and kids. He has had some demons but seams to have worked them out pretty well for himself. You dont become 23rd in world golf rankings by ping ponging in and out of rehab.
He may have been born with a torcherd soul but over came and is an inspiration to many people.
Give the guy a little credit.
