Village Tavern, a Phoenix-Scottsdale spot for gourmet food on the cheap

One of the things that makes Phoenix-Scottsdale such a satisfying golf spot is the sheer abundance of off course options. It’s a town where you get a restaurant like Village Tavern.

This place in one of strip mall shopping centers along Scottsdale Road gives you heapings of gourmet food for near Denny’s prices. The salmon benedict plate is packed full of great tasting food for under $10.

And you can find restaurants like Village Tavern throughout the spread out desert valley. That’s part of why Phoenix-Scottsdale may be the best value golf hotspot on the West Coast. You’re not eating this well this cheap in Las Vegas or LA. You may be able to find something as cheap, but it won’t taste anything like this.

Of course, Cheap Bastard is probably ready to curse me out for recommending any breakfast/brunch type dish that isn’t a complimentary two-day-old muffin. Cheap Bastard is the guy who thinks you can get real New York pizza in Arizona though.

Scottsdale’s good, but not that good.

Chris, Although I wouldn't touch Cheap Bastard's golf choices, I think he must be talking about Pizzeria Bianco..(I didn't go back and read his article)..it's NEW YORK PIZZA in the DESERT! Try it out next time you're here.
