Ty Votaw's PGA defection no news to TravelGolf.com readers
The PGA Tour’s announcement this week that recently departed LPGA commissioner Ty Votaw had been hired as their new Executive Vice President seemed to lack some of the tour’s usual bluster. Maybe because TravelGolf.com reported last July that Votaw and commissioner Tim Finchem had worked out this deal.
It’s crass for a publication to give itself too much credit for breaking news - that’s what we’re here for - but it is worth pointing out to reaffirm our commitment. If you read a news report on TravelGolf.com, you can be sure it’s true and based on rock solid reporting.
This isn’t just a place where you can go for enlightened opinions that defy marketing machines. Or just a place where you can get National Editor Tim McDonald’s hilarious series on how to cheat.
You’ll get plenty of news with those laughs or groans (yes, Wie Warriors).
USA Today wrote about Pete Rose turning himself into a regular Las Vegas sideshow last week. The New York Daily News did something on it a month earlier. Of course, TravelGolf.com’s readers got the story all the way back in March 2005, getting a taste of what life’s like inside Rose’s booth when it was brand new.
You’ll never know just what story you’ll find here. First.
McDonald’s working on a series on Jacksonville golf being better than Myrtle Beach golf. Why do I think I’ll be reading that claim in a golf magazine two years from now?
Maybe, that will even be enough to get us one of those coveted Jazzie awards. You can only dream. But not as well as Tim Finchem’s golden child Ty Votaw surely is.
