At least Vijay Singh puts his Phil Mickelson hate out in the open
Thursday February 16, 2006 | 03:03:08 231 words, 4375 views
Say this for Vijay Singh: he knows how to fuel a rivalry. If nothing else, you have to admire him for taking his grudges public. There is nothing sneaky about Vijay Singh (except maybe his scorecard techniques in Indonesia). If Vijay doesn’t like you, everyone’s going to know about it. There is something amusing about a guy who has his caddy wear a “Tiger Who?” hat causing the greatest golfer in history to turn into a seething schoolgirl. Of course, Tiger wouldn’t acknowledge he was peeved. He just hinted around at it and let others do the talking for him. He handled it sort of like Paris Hilton would. Not Vijay. He gets in your face. Just ask Phil Mickelson. First, the spikes, now the driver. What’s next? Vijay asks Tour officials to examine whether Mickelson’s smile is real? You cannot help be on Mickelson’s side in this one. It’s hard to muster much sympathy for a guy who essentially called his caddie a drunk fool. Vijay is about as cuddly as a porcupine. Still, the PGA Tour is better for having him around. There are tons of grudges out there on Tour. Only Vijay is nice enough to let us in on the drama now and then. PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem should be consulting Vijay for marketing suggestions. Now, here’s someone who knows how to make early-season golf interesting. Comments:

Tiger handled that situation by kicking Vijay's ass on the golf course, exactly the way it should have been handled. I'll take Vijay and his brutal honesty over Phil and his two-faced nature any day.

Mr. Baldwin is an obvious racist. His remarks show he has not class and distorts the truth. There is no proof of the evidence of Indonesia.
Your worse that Mr. Hux. At least he tells us he hates people of color. You sir, are at home with the skinheads and white supremists that you wish were running this country. No wonder you cover a sport where people like me still get the 'evil eye' when we want to play on a course. Your comments will follow you for the rest of your life! The God I belive in forgives, but not me....shame on you!

It's amusing to read people calling Mickelson, or anyone else, 'two faced', when they've never been in a position to observe the target of their barb in any setting other than a public one. What's the source of their deep knowledge of Phil's other persona?

BillD-- find it amusing that people like yourself feel confident enough to tell me what i have been in a position to observe. You know less about me, then you do about Phil Mickelson. I work in the entertainment field and know publicists, pr people, writers, celebrities and the like and have actually been at events with Mr. Mickelson and the stories are always the same. Phil's extremely demanding, difficult to deal with and generally a cocky a%$hole behind the scenes, but all smiles and charm when the cameras and lights go on. He IS a fraud whether you want to believe that or not. I know you may find this shocking, but some stars and athletes are not what they appear to be(sometimes you have to look a little deeper for the truth), many have what we call a true face and a camera face. I hate to burst your bubble, but time to grow up Bill, oh yeah the Easter Bunny isn't real either.

I've had two run ins with Phil and he has been great both times. Very friendly.
Now Michael Jordan, WHAT AN A$$Hole!

Racist? Two-faced. Let me tell you two something. Go call the NAACP, ACLU and your mother's. Phil Mickelson is real and some; like yourselves hate the fact that he is more respected and beloved than Vijay or Woods combined.
