Difference between Phil Mickelson & Michelle Wie: He buys fan's watch, she crassly pimps hers
Phil losing it while being paired with Tiger is as old news as Lindsay Lohan’s dad having a little trouble behind the wheel.
Mickelson’s moment came when he launched a shot into the gallery on Doral’s 10th hole and got a lucky bounce off a fan’s wristwatch. When the ball rocketed off the watch, it smashed it. This caused Mickelson to promptly go over to the stunned fan and hand over two Ben Franklins.
Now, no matter what you think of Mickelson, that’s cool.
Can you imagine if Tiger hit a shot off a fan’s cheap timepiece? He’d probably send his caddy enforcer Steve Williams into the masses to scream at the man for daring to lift up his arm.
Why didn’t you take it off the noggin, man! We might have gotten a better lie. Don’t you know anything about golf etiquette, you idiot!
As for golf’s most overblown phenom? Well, we already know what Michelle Wie would do, don’t we? She’d no doubt launch into a post round press conference soliloquy on how it’s a shame that fan didn’t have a more “sparkly” watch like this great diamond-encrusted Omega that just happens to be on her wrist.
The one she talks about so spontaneous like and everything.
Yes Wie Warriors, while you were trying to douse the most crass display of commercialism in recent sports history by your girl, a shot went into the gallery and kept watches in the golf news. Now, that’s beyond hilarious.
No one could anticipate that.
Well, unless you were a golf blogging genius or something.

And that's the absolute truth.
( BTW, I am sure Phils' peers are already talking about what a phony he is)
Hmmmm what's more like pimping?
Michelle Wie showing off a watch for 30 sec at a press conference or
Baldwin allegedly writing bad reviews of a former sponsor of this site because they wouldn't pay three times their fee...
What does everyone think?
I guess that would make Baldwin more like a whore right?
The links seem to disappear because the "accomplished journalist " in Baldwin does not want anyone to see he's getting sued for defamation...
Interesting reading below--better copy and paste before they magically disappear again.
Are you preparing yourself for defamation suit - insanity defence?
Yes, I agree Phil is a nice guy. As Jay Z said, what about $500K Michelle donated to Katrina vitims? Did anyone from PGA/LPGA donate anything closing to that amount?
Golf is an obscene sport:
We have hookers, shafts, heads, hole(s), long john, and now.. pimps.
I read that article. Baldie claimed that he was a journalist. But he is not. Is... he? He is so juvenile...
"Well, unless you were a golf blogging genius or something."
Well, I guess that leaves you out.
BTW, are you having fun yet Baldie? I suppose you can do like your boss and invoke the shield law if you get sued for slander or defamation, right?
Oh wait, you have to be a journalist before you can crawl behind that wall. I guess that leaves you out again, Baldie. So sorry.
You have shares in Omega, Baldie?
Go, Baldie, Go !
Chris, did you not delete some links to some articles about yourself?
Please answer Chris. Is that not censorship?
In fact, I responded to the Walters man (Kyle, Five Name) on the actual Walters breaking news blog. Read it for yourself.
And sorry to break it to you, Johnny, but those articles you think that TravelGolf.com is trying to hide came about because we wrote about the intimidation tactic suit ourselves and told other news organizations about it.
But by all means carry on ... Loving it.
Okay some guys call you names but you do bring it on yourself.
Your Wie articles are obviously put out to draw attention to them and nothing else.
You rightly recognise that Wie is one of the greatest talents around, and try to latch on to that to boost your own goals.
Fair play to you, and I wouldn't hold anything against you for that. Your articles are probably helping Wie's endorsements, and giving the watch makers publicity also, so you are doing alot of good.
When you wrote those articles, I wonder if you knew you were being such a nice and helpful guy.
You wouldn't recognise the truth if it hit you in the face with a golf club.
If you don't recognise that Wie is the second best woman golfer in the world there is no hope for you.
You said "I have not deleted any posts on these Wie blogs."
Do you actually think that we will take your word for it?
You said "When you need allies like that to try to stick for the Winless Wonder, desperation must really be setting in."
You must be in desperation to write blogs on "Winless Wonder."
You said "Can you imagine if Tiger hit a shot off a fan's cheap timepiece?"
I didn't know that being a journalist is as easy as answering one's own question like this:
Can you imagine if Chris Baldwin hit a shot off a someone's cheap timepiece?
He will scream at the poor soul.
"You stupid moron. That's it. Now your useless watch just ruined my once-in-a-life shot. You are a shame to all mankind. Beat it before I peel off your skin and use it as my toilet paper."
I quote: "Well, we already know what Michelle Wie would do, don't we? She'd no doubt launch into a post round press conference soliloquy on how it's a shame that fan didn't have a more "sparkly" watch like this great diamond-encrusted Omega that just happens to be on her wrist."
It is fortuitous for us that Chris Baldwin is so gifted with second sight. He and only he knows what Michelle Wie would do...not even Michelle herself knows.
Fortunately, Michelle plans to announce Monday that she has hired Chris as her personal Jafar, a soothsayer if you will. An added stroke of luck is that Gilber Gottfried will accompany Baldwin as Iago the parrot. Phil might have received the lucky bounce on Saturday, but Michelle gets the greatest of all with the signing of Chris on Monday.
I have two teenage girls who talk and talk and talk about other girls.
about what they wear, what they do, how they do, who they do it with, so on and so on.
from my experience only two types of people talk this way: girls or gay guys. I wonder what catagory you fit in.
Why do you make it so easy to slam you Baldie?
Another bold faced lie--I guess with pathological liars like you -you sometimes forget that you're lying.
Actually Baldwin deleted at least 6 posts from this blog and his other Wie bashing blog.
I posted portions of the articles from the links above- ( 3 times for each article) and those mysteriously disappeared.
As Baldie mentioned in his EAGL golf blog he wants as much
"blog hits" as he can get...
Those defamation lawsuits can cost a lot of money you know...
By the way--why are they advertising "Michele Watches" and other "Luxury Watches" on this website?
Makes you think they're pimping or something...
Chris does not even have administrative access to be able to delete comments, but I do.
Can't expect much from a Criminole like you...
You still have not answered my question. What do you think of $500K that Michelle donated? Did any other athlete donate anythign close to that amount? How much do you think Phil Michelson donated? Why don't you research this and make your comment?
Your writing abilities could be put to more constructive use, unless you call this process tongue in cheek, irony, satire, or sarcasm and that you actually find purpose in doing this. Oh, we get it, this is your lame attempt at being funny.
I suppose negative attention is better than no attention at all. "Girly Man" comes to mind.
I'm trying to have patience with you, I really am.
Great job Chris l read your blog every day and love your comments one of the few that has anything sensible and honest l stop reading the pimps of the "golf mags" and love your comments of Phil and MW. If these Wie Worshippers think for on minute she was the dedcision maker on any donation they are more cultish than l thought. She probably didn't even know about the Katrina gift and it was a publicty stunt but did help but so did the Arab Emirates gift.
Sounds like Timmy is trolling again.
Now with Morgan in tears and “she who is better than Wie” letting him down at the Fields Open there will be no talk of golf; only an ignorant, childish, pitiful attack on Michelle for a simple single comment made about a watch. This comment, taken completely out of context, is all this hack of blogger can think to talk about for two columns.
Chris, should one small particle of truth ever penetrate your thick head, as it did for Morgan after 18 holes at the Fields, you will find yourself in tears as well.
Soon we'll see Michelle Wie lunchpails, MW calendars, MW Sony Playstation games, MW earrings, MW 'Hello Kitties'...animated features like "Michelle Wie Meets the Harlem Globetrotters".
So I say wash all this down with a cold one, folks.
What are you stupid? Or, just simply pissed that too many people of color are involved in golf?
I appreciate what Phil Mickelson did, but why make the comparison with Michelle Wie or even Tiger for that matter? Does it all go to those two for you? What is your agenda?
Michelle Wie donated $500,000 for god's sake! Give her a break on the watch! It might annoy you that an Asian girl her age is attracting so much attention, but it is what it is. Golf is no longer a bastion of the lily white! Deal with it!
After checking out a few of your past blogs is that i came to agree with my brother.
You do talk just like a jealous gay guy yapping his 'flaming' mouth about this and that. especially about a teenage girl who is prettier, a better athelete and definately richer than you. I played baseball and golf in high school and think myself somewhat of a jock. but i don't see why you have such a 'thing' for Ms. Wie. unless your racist, gay or both.
why can i say this? Because i am gay and proud to be. I'm sure you have known a gay guy can spot another one with our special "GAY-dar" (radar) sense. so stop picking on a UNDER AGED girl and come out of the closet and join our ranks!!!!!!
My issue is with ridiculous expectations. I think those who see a sound byte, or read an article or two about Michelle, and declare here the best player who ever lived are sadly misguided. Not everyone who appreciates what Michelle has accomplished is that foolish.
The point you missed completely, or choose to ignore, is that expecting a 16 year old to win in LPGA is a ridicules expectation. Condemning a player, for not having done so, is simply foolish. This is something no player, not even the greatest legends in Women’s golf, have ever achieved. The fact that there is a player who could conceivable accomplish this should delight and entertain… not be a target of ridicule because the miracle has not yet taken place.
Alex, Michelle’s age relative to other players in not the issue. It is her absolute age today that is the issue. Should Michelle reach 25 years of age with out winning, the age at which Annika won her first (after losing 34 in a row), it will be reasonable to start questioning her ability. It is entirely possible Michelle will never devolve into the player her potential promises. I can think of several scenarios from injury to romance to burnout to new interest that could lead Michelle to remain an interesting footnote in the history of golf. What is fascinating is that the potential is there and we get to see it unfold, for better or worse.
Finally, Alex please read carefully, I only commented on what your statements in this forum “seem to indicate”. I do not have a problem separating a persons opinion from the person them self. I have no intention of casting dispersion on your person, only to state my opinion, that the ideas you express here are foolish and immature. I will happily take your word for it that you are mature, well educated and intelligent and look forward to see evidence of the same in your postings.
With your constant ranting about what a loser MW is...why don't you challenge her to a $500 nassau and see how you do. After that experience, you need to be "sissy slapped."
