Showed up at Sanctuary Golf Course at WestWorld in Scottsdale and was promptly told by the cart kid that the bad weather had driven all the golfers away.

It was about 65 degrees and sunny.

Oh sure, there was a brisk, little wind blowing, but this was nothing that would give you a chill, let alone send shots flying every which way.

This incident followed a day in which the Arizona Republic found a golfer who’d been chased from TPC Stadium by the rain. Five drops of rain. Literally. This rain didn’t even register as official (not measurable).

The Phoenix valley is in the midst of a historic 143-day drought that’s only supposed to end Saturday. Some homeowners are watering cactuses. No joke.

And this guy couldn’t stick it out to get his round in.

Congratulations Phoenix-Scottsdale. You guys are officially the wimpiest “cold” weather golfers anywhere. And I used to think the folks in Palm Springs were bad.

Those geriatric geezers with high pants and right turn signals flashing for eternity could kick your butts any day.

You must be in based in Las Vegas, Chris, so I understand. You don't get very many really good days to play so you'll put up with almost anything.

Here in Arizona most days are near perfect, so we tend be a bit more discriminating. Eat your heart out.
