Lame, pathetic, childish, BS, paranoic, Psychotic...

I am running out of adjectives to describe your mental condition of you, Baldy.

You just made it inot the list for "the quote of the century".

Baldy said "For once, I really don't have a problem with Michelle Wie. "

Can anybody really believe this?

Oh, as for your remark of her being eseentially 0 for 33 events, you are more likely 0 for 33 years or more.

Good grief, Baldy, when and where your obsession of Michelle will end?

You may thought that you will enjoy high traffic with this Wie-bashing but sooner or later you will drive away all the visiters from this site with your sour, bad, fould-taste remarks on a girl.

You're so predictable--
I posted that you would write something about Michelle Wie regarding the 60 minutes interview back on Saturday.

Pathetic...

For a guy with a hate on for Michelle Wie, Chris seems to invest a lot of time writing about her, watching her, commenting on her legs, etc.

If any other adult male spent this much time fawning over a 16yo girl, it'd be called something between stalking and pedophilia.

Since travelgolf.com puts this blog on, I assume that they condone the hateful, mysogynistic attitudes. I wonder if they think this is some way to allow open and free dialogue? I wonder if they spend this much careful thought on their travel offerings. It sure isn't what I'd look for in a service provider.

I saw that interview on Sunday, and
Steve Kroft did not ask her

" You think you look ugly ?" with Michelle answering "Only in the morning"

That interview is still on my Tivo and I watched it again to make sure, and that question was definitely not asked on Sunday's telecast.

You just proved you didn't watch it and now you're talking out of your ass...

Is it too much to ask for you to get your facts straight--no wonder you're loser ass is getting sued.

I think your comments are appropriate and I do not understand the overly negative comments from the people above. Both the Tiger interview and the Wie interview were below the standards of 60 Minutes. Both were puff pieces with nothing new or interesting. It is well known that the Tiger people placed boundaries on Ed Bradley. No info yet on the Wie machine rules for interviews. I guess 60 Minutes has sold out for ratings. No integrity left at 60 Minutes. It is CBS so no real surprise I guess.

Joe--
Those Michelle quotes were not in the interview--Baldwin made them up.
You can even check out the transcript from the CBS News website if you don't believe me. I double checked it already from my TiVo and those words he quoted above were definitely not said.

60 minutes is one of the highest rated shows on TV-it shows how dumb Baldwin is if he think he can lie about something millions of people saw.

You think someone that goes after a
16 year old girl with inaccurate facts and such vitriol has integrity?

I hear from some Las Vegas friends--he's even getting sued for defamation.

For someone who claims to not be a fan of Michelle Wie, I'm surprised that you even watch and are commenting about Wie's interview on "60 Minutes." Maybe, just maybe, you might be a closeted Wie fan to watch her on something that is not relevant to her performance in the game.

Those questions you brought up in your blog were NOT included in the Sunday telecast and you implied that they were.

Your quotes from above were exclusives from the CBS website and not on the show Sunday night.

Actually, Kyle. Those clips were up promoting the show Sunday as well. It's the same interview. Kroft didn't sit down with her twice at age 16. That's part of the 60 Minute interview.

The only thing you've "exposed" is your petty obsession.

Come with some facts man. Like Michelle Wie being 0 for 33. Baldwin being 0 for ... oh, that's right my Wie predictions have been all right.

Sorry there. But thanks keeping for the comments rolling.

Chris Baldwin's obsession with Michelle Wie is well documented, his need to criticize her every move rightly or wrongly is a bit much, but behavior such as Kyle's is equally, if not more over the top. Kyle one could ask you the same questions you seem to ask Mr. Baldwin all the time. Why do you care so much? What is your obsession with Ms. Wie? Your, frankly creepy defense of her and attacks on Chris are psychotic sounding.

Do Chris Baldy and Tim McDonald have the same biological father? These dorks tirelessly criticize this 16 year old girl for all the publicity she gets, while at the same time promulgating the media frenzy themselves. Baldwin--

Alright now, this is beyond pathetic...

You truly need to get a life.

It must be sad that you have made such little contribution to your life and career that you have been reduced to writing ridiculous blogs just so people will read them. Why don't you quit picking on a 16 year old girl, and do something productive with your writing.

Everything you write (not only about Michelle) has been strictly amateurish and without merit.

Did you even go to journalism school? If you did what do your colleagues think about you being a 3rd rate blogger so desperate for attention and validation. I also saw that it is true you are currently being sued for defamation for one of your previous articles -your career is truly sad.

Chris Baldwin takes on the role of Devil's Advocate and you Wie Warriors take the bait hook, line, and sinker. You folks rail at him for his prejudice and lack of objectivity, but your adulation of Miss Wie, her overbearing stage father, and her entourage blind you to your own lack of objectivity. Several Wie admirers actually think that Miss Wie will win on the PGA tour. One diehard insisted that this miracle will happen within two years. Do you guys call that being realistic? You're good at saying that the skies the limit for your pet, that she has many remarkable accomplishments, that she will surely re-write the history of women's golf, and on and on. But when Chris or anyone else reminds you people that Miss Wie is 0 for 33, you have the tired reply that "she is only 16" and "how can you pick on such a sweet girl?" and "how would you like it if someone said such things about your daughter?" and other such rubbish. You guys can't have it both ways. She is a PRO! She has been a "de facto" pro for about three years. She hasn't won anything. Accept these facts and you might be on the way to recovery.
2006-04-14 @ 09:20
Comment from: June [Visitor]
Alex, has she been a pro "de facto" for 3 years because she din't play on Amateur events or because she played on LPGA 5 or 6 times a year?

If the latter is the case, Morgan has been a pro since 2005 (0 for 10 or so)and Puala has been a pro for about 2 and a half years (2 for 30 or so).

Think about that?

0 for 33? Ridiculous argument!!!
2006-04-14 @ 11:21
Comment from: Alex [Visitor]
Neither Morgan Pressel nor Paula Creamer is the subject of this thread. Neither of these young ladies is being promoted as being capable of re-writing the history of women's golf. Neither Morgan nor Paula has been badgering tour promoters to get sponsors' exemptions on the PGA tour. Very little is being written or broadcast about either of these young ladies. All of the above have been promoted for Michelle by Wie's legions. On the other hand, Morgan has won the US Women's Amateur and made it through the "Q" school, and Paula led the "Q" school and has won two LPGA events and two others worldwide. Miss Wie is still, however, WINLESS.0 for 33. Ask Chris.
2006-04-14 @ 12:57
Comment from: Kyle [Visitor]
Hey alex

Where did Paula and Morgan finish at the two events Michelle played in as well this year?

The Wie's have not badgered anyone for an exemption the sponsors have given it to them willingly.

And can't you defend your points by yourself?
Why do we have to "Ask Chris"
2006-04-14 @ 13:29
Comment from: Jim COULTHARD [Visitor]
Actually by these standards Morgan Pressel has been a de facto pro since she played in the 2001 Open shortly after she turned 13. Asn far as her US Women's Amateur win is concerned--it doesn't count since since she was a de facto pro who should not even have been allowed to compete.

Uh, guys, please pay attention. This blog is not, I repeat, IS NOT about Morgan or Paula. Miss Wie is the subject that Chris has put under scrutiny. He thinks that the "60 minutes" interview was nothing more than a set-up of softball questions. What do you think?Remember gentlemen, the subject of this blog is Michelle Wie. The relative merits of the play of Morgan Pressel and/or Paula Creamer are irrelevant on this thread. Chris Baldwin, please clue these guys in. Thank you.

Comment from Alex:
Neither Morgan nor Paula has been badgering tour promoters to get sponsors' exemptions on the PGA tour.

Neither has Michelle. In fact, several pga tournaments have offered her exemptions, including a few for this year, but she has turned down many. For instance she turned down the John Deere, the year before she entered it. Also, she has been offered some events for this summer, but she can take her pick.

So Alex, please get your facts straight. Michelle Wie does not badger pga tournaments for sponsorship exemptions, in fact they want her and she can pick and choose.

Michelle Wie is Supergirl from tee to green. Putting is her Kryptonite.

Michelle tied for 1st in greens in regulation (GIR) at the Fields Open and was the leader in GIR at the Kraft. So how did anyone beat her?

Her are the stats comparing Karrie (the winner) to Michelle:

GIR:

Michelle was 1st

Karrie was tied for 9th

Putts Per Round:

Karrie was tied for 5th with an average of 28.25 PPR.

Michelle was tied for 65th place with an average of 31.75 PPR.

Michelle gave up three and a half strokes per round to Karrie on the greens. Michelle can't give up fourteen strokes per match and expect to win.

Kyle, June was the actually the first to mention Morgan and Paula. Kyle, why are you so angry? Is it because you know that Alex is right? It's always the same thing with Wie fans, she's the best, she's going to dominate the LPGA, she hits the ball so far, she will eventually win on the PGA tour, etc, etc...The problem is that she is not dominating, in fact she is not even winning yet. I know, I know she is only 16 1/2 years old and nobody has ever won at that age, but here's the thing, she's not like everybody according to her fans, Nike, IMG, and most of the media. The tales of her prowess have been crammed down our throats for years now and she has not delivered, let's face facts she has had the ability and game to win on the women's tour for years and she has not. I know it makes you angry when people bring this up, but the truth is she has had chances to win and has not. Being tall and moderately attractive does not make you a legend, winning golf tournaments does. I have said my peace. I will now prepare for the inevitable child molester comments from Michelle's obviously sane fanbase.

"Winless Wonder"??? I believe this is a bit off if not much too early to be making this kind of specious name tagging on a 16-year old girl. Remember she is not even playing on the LPGA full time. The only thing she's doing full time is being a student in high school as Baldwin must have the intelligence to know.

BTW it's funny that losers [Baldy this is you] who has never won anything of import when he was 16 could make such a stupid and hypocritical statement like this about a nice girl.

We all know that you are profiting by attacking a teenager--this is the number one article in Google search news section and this jerk is being paid by Google. Only losers in the most pathetic sense would week-by-week profit from Wie-bashing.

Good luck in your life, you'll need it.

marko, We hear you loud and clear. Twice in your post you told us that Michelle is 16 years old. Also that she is a "nice girl", a "teenager", and a fulltime high school student. What you didn't say is that she has gotten more favorable publicity than any other teenager in history and that thus far she hasn't lived up to the hype. If you see nothing wrong with Miss Wie making millions with no effort, you should extend the same courtesy to Chris Baldwin who wants to earn a farthing or two by exposing Michelle for the creation of marketing that she is.

Alex, Alex... You actually sound like Balwin defending himself.

We live in a capitalist society--hello??? Why don't you Alex and Baldy just go live in a communist country if you are just so stuck up on this whole marketing thing.

Most Americans do not think it's such a bad thing to market a talented teenager who is making a positive contribution to not only women's golf but is also a great role model for kids. There are so many people who do absolutely nothing for society but are filthy rich.

I'm glad you get my point loud and clear Alex because people like you just don't seem to get this simple idea through your thick skull--she is 16 and she will be playing a lot more golf in the years to come to prove herself. The intelligent thing to do would be to wait a few more years before jumping to conclusions, something that you must do a lot in your life.

BTW, you are utterly insane if you think she has done nothing.

She isn't a full-time student at high school - she's never there. I even remember a guy from Hawaii post on this blog who happened to attend the same high school as Michelle, and he actually stated that it is a rare sight to see Michelle in school.

Yes Michelle did bad on her SAT which she admitted to--but she also said she didn't study for it at all-she took it without any reviewing. How do you know she failed? She may not have gotten the score she wanted but that doesn't mean she failed.

What are you talking about that she is failing school? Every feature that has been done on her has intimated that she is an A student at her high school.

The Wie Warriors are not shy about predicting that their idol will perform all sorts of miracles. She will re-write the history of women's golf, win several women's majors sooner than anyone else in history, even that she will win a PGA tour event within the next two years, which would be much earlier than any man has ever won such an event. marko, even says that she is an excellent role model for young children (at age 16?) and a budding philanthropist. Then marko changes his tack and says, in a delicious bit of irony, that we Wie sceptics should "wait a few more years before jumping to conclusions." Don't you just love it? If it is then good for you, and enjoy the dysfunctionality you social outcast. But please, I say this without sarcasim, there really is no need to get so worked up on a message board like this.

The SAT is supposed to be a test you cannot study for. Unfortunately for Michelle Wie there is a very strong correlation between math skill and SAT performance--even on the verbal part of the test, to say nothing of the math part. Since math sounds like the academic area where Michelle Wie has the most difficulty, it is not surprising that her SATs may have been lower than she hoped. Working hard in school to get A's in math does not get you the high SAT scores that someone who is just a natural in math would get.

EXAMPLE. A girl is 3/8 of the way through a tunnel when she hears a train coming. She could run back and reach the start of the tunnel when the train does, or run forward and reach the end when the train does. If the train goes 60mph how fast does the girl run? A MATH NATURAL CAN DO THIS PROBLEM MENTALLY.
She runs 3/8 of the tunnel to get to the start when the train does, or she runs 3/8 of the tunnel to get
3/8 + 3/8 = 3/4 of the way through when the train reaches the start. In the latter case she runs trhough the remaining 1/4 of the tunnel in the time it takes the train to go through the entire tunnel so she runs
1/4 of 60mph = 15mph.

People who are able to think like this do much better on the SAT than people who have not yet learned to think in this way. Unfortunately we rarely teach people to think about math in this fashion at least in the US. Perhaps our UK friends could tell us if this type of reasoning is common in England.

marko, Don't take this criticism as anything but constructive. In my opinion, you should post your internet prose in your native language, whatever it might be. Your last post made it clear that English is not your strong suit. Or at least try your spell check. Most of what you post has become unintelligible.

putt4par, I feel about Miss Wie as I would about any teen-age prodigy. She has a tremendous amount of talent and she should be a force on the Ladies' tour for a long time, barring anything unforeseen. I think she has been hyped far too much, and that she might never live up to the unrealistic expectations her father, her handlers, and her fans have thrust on her. As far as her ever being a force on the PGA tour, as they say in Brooklyn, "fuhget about it!"

If everybody hates lawyers, I think Alex's comments to Marko can at least help us to understand why that might be the case.
I, for one, would certainly advise Marko to take your comments as anything but constructive.
Perhaps Alex should use grammar check. One does not usually start a sentence with a proper noun that is uncapitalized, only to follow it with a capitalized "Don't".

Henry VI (Part 2) the play by William Shakespeare

"The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers". - (Act IV, Scene II).

"Small things make base men proud". - (Act IV, Scene I).

At least there is one Limey I can understand and agree with.

Jim C, Kindly be aware that my friend marko starts his handle with a lower case "m". I defer to the spelling and case letter that the poster himself uses. Only if you accept the fact I said, "perhaps later".

I agree completely with you on one point Alex, Michelle must do her homework on putting if she hopes to graduate to the next level.

Alex,

I thought you, being of the legal profession, would most certainly have addressed the key issues of the question:

Why was a young girl running inside a tunnel?

Did the publisher of the test footnote the question with a warning that this was a hazardous activity that the test taker should not personally attempt?

Is there not grounds for a lucrative class-action suit here?

Do I know anyone whose child might have been needlessly endangered by this patently dangerous and irresponsible question?

Comment from: Alex [Visitor]
John Neal, Civil tort law is not my field of endeavor. My opinion is that the railroad in this case would not be culpable. Attempting to walk or run through a tunnel with a train bearing down at 60 mph is prima facie a reckless act. However, Jim C might bear some blame in case of a castrophy since he didn't offer a disclaimer on his hypothesis.

My my, Alex, I can certainly believe you are a lawyer.
You sit in your pearly little tower and set everyone up with your derogatory and inflamatory prose and then whip the responders for reacting exactly as you hoped they would.

Having said that, I am still of the firm opinion that you an Chris Baldwin are idiots. Very glib idiots, but idiots all the same.

Quite frankly I don't give a darn whether Ms. Wie ever wins, she is an entertaining young golfer.

Now, you and Chris seem to have a problem with the hype. Well, let Baldwin stop publshing this sort of incendiary nonsense and half the hype would vanish. Then you could go the rest of the route and take Nike, Sony, et al. to task for their sponsorship of Ms.Wie. I'm sure that they would take you very seriosly.

Next, why not take your alleged legal talents and find a way to stop BJ Wie from exploiting his daughter. That is after all one of the favourite battle cries of the Wie Bashers, right?

So she is a Pro. And you sit there in your rarified air and tell us that because she is a pro, that being 16 years old and a pro suddenly makes her incapable of 16 year old mistakes and 16 year old mannerisms?
Really, Alex, take a good look around you. I mean take a responsible look around you and then give us page ad verse of all the totally un-teenage like 16 year olds you see, no matter if they are "pro or not.
As I said before, I don't care whether she wins or not, what I really object to in all this BS that Baldwin spews forth, is the totally irrisponsible and unfair misinformation he keeps writing in these blogs.

I said it before and I'll say it again, Baldwin would really blow his cool if any papparazi style reporter set up a blog such as this and started a word war on one of his children. I am also sure that you would be very quick to find way to stop anyone from making the same sort of blog about one of your kids, Alex.

Just stop being such a blathering dupe in Baldwins war of words against MW. Go fight the really perpetrators of the hype machine. Go talk to Omega and Nike and Sony. I can just imagine the reception you'd get.

putt4par, earlier in this thread, you asked me what I really thought of Miss Wie. I answered that I believed that she was a teenage prodigy, that in my opinion she had a wealth of talent, and that she should be a force on that women's tour for a long time. I further stated that she would never be successful on the PGA tour. What do you find so egregious about those opinions? I think I know what has gotten your dander up. Your countryman, fellow Brit David had the gall to reveal that darling Michelle had gone into the tank on her SAT's. She may be the only person of Oriental heritage extant who is not proficient at Math. In PC lingo, she is arithmetically challenged. her public speaking is also nondescript.

Hey fellows, and I use the last term advisedly, you're really reading too much into my posts. You know, Miss Wie's father is reportedly a college professor. I have no reason to doubt that assertion. He is also a Korean, either by birth or ethnicity. It is well established that people of Korean ancestry are top-notch achievers, and that they encourage their offspring to be similar achievers. For this reason, it was undoubtedly quite difficult for BJ Wie to put Michelle on the path that he has chosen. But since she is obviously arithmetically challenged, and her chances of becoming a Nobel Prize winner in literature are slim and none, BJ, being possesed of that other Korean virtue known as pragmatism, shrugged and decided that his only child should excel at the sport of golf. And to no one's surprise, she's doing quite well at the trade that has been chosen for her. Now, if she would only win something, her fans night be able to contain their seething hatred at her detractors and go absolutely bat shit crazy with glee.

Kyle, I have one question: Is it possible for anyone to be as clueless as you are pretending to be? If you would be so kind as to look up the meaning of the word "Oriental", you would find that it means originating or being native to the "East", which was at the time in the eastern direction from Europe. China, India, Japan, Korea, etc., were and are still all parts of the Orient. All of Asia is Oriental. Miss Wie is absolutely not Asian at all. She is a natural-born US citizen. She certainly is of Oriental heritage. Kyle, your history lesson is over. We may have testing on the aforementioned material at a later date.

You're the clueless one--you don't even know that you don't call people Oriental.

Do you even know any Asian people?
Why don't you ask them if they like being called "Oriental"

Since you're so busy holed up in your trailer waiting for the rest of the pod people to contact you -I doubt you will get an opportunity to ask.

You've already shown your ignorance but its kind of funny the way you defend your lack of knowledge. You're a human Jerry Springer show.

One-Putt, I thought of contacting BJ but then I realized that they would probably be searching for someone much younger than me, someone with fire in his belly, possibly like Kyle.
