I think your comments are appropriate and I do not understand the overly negative comments from the people above. Both the Tiger interview and the Wie interview were below the standards of 60 Minutes. Both were puff pieces with nothing new or interesting. It is well known that the Tiger people placed boundaries on Ed Bradley. No info yet on the Wie machine rules for interviews. I guess 60 Minutes has sold out for ratings. No integrity left at 60 Minutes. It is CBS so no real surprise I guess.

Neither Morgan Pressel nor Paula Creamer is the subject of this thread. Neither of these young ladies is being promoted as being capable of re-writing the history of women's golf. Neither Morgan nor Paula has been badgering tour promoters to get sponsors' exemptions on the PGA tour. Very little is being written or broadcast about either of these young ladies. All of the above have been promoted for Michelle by Wie's legions. On the other hand, Morgan has won the US Women's Amateur and made it through the "Q" school, and Paula led the "Q" school and has won two LPGA events and two others worldwide. Miss Wie is still, however, WINLESS.0 for 33. Ask Chris.

Neither has Michelle. In fact, several pga tournaments have offered her exemptions, including a few for this year, but she has turned down many. What you didn't say is that she has gotten more favorable publicity than any other teenager in history and that thus far she hasn't lived up to the hype. If you see nothing wrong with Miss Wie making millions with no effort, you should extend the same courtesy to Chris Baldwin who wants to earn a farthing or two by exposing Michelle for the creation of marketing that she is.

Most of these so called golf experts couldn't pull together a sub-par round from the Junior tees with the wind at their back all day long.

Alex, you need to lighten up a little get off net for a while. It seems I've touched an nerve or two of an insecurity. Alright, I'll stop the ad hominems, they may have be a tad disrepectful. The SAT is supposed to be a test you cannot study for. Unfortunately for Michelle Wie there is a very strong correlation between math skill and SAT performance--even on the verbal part of the test, to say nothing of the math part. Since math sounds like the academic area where Michelle Wie has the most difficulty, it is not surprising that her SATs may have been lower than she hoped. Working hard in school to get A's in math does not get you the high SAT scores that someone who is just a natural in math would get.

EXAMPLE. A girl is 3/8 of the way through a tunnel when she hears a train coming. She could run back and reach the start of the tunnel when the train does, or run forward and reach the end when the train does. If the train goes 60mph how fast does the girl run? A MATH NATURAL CAN DO THIS PROBLEM MENTALLY.
She runs 3/8 of the tunnel to get to the start when the train does, or she runs 3/8 of the tunnel to get
3/8 + 3/8 = 3/4 of the way through when the train reaches the start. In the latter case she runs trhough the remaining 1/4 of the tunnel in the time it takes the train to go through the entire tunnel so she runs
1/4 of 60mph = 15mph.

People who are able to think like this do much better on the SAT than people who have not yet learned to think in this way. Unfortunately we rarely teach people to think about math in this fashion at least in the US. Perhaps our UK friends could tell us if this type of reasoning is common in England.

marko, Don't take this criticism as anything but constructive. In my opinion, you should post your internet prose in your native language, whatever it might be. Your last post made it clear that English is not your strong suit. Or at least try your spell check. Most of what you post has become unintelligible.

putt4par, I feel about Miss Wie as I would about any teen-age prodigy. She has a tremendous amount of talent and she should be a force on the Ladies' tour for a long time, barring anything unforeseen. I think she has been hyped far too much, and that she might never live up to the unrealistic expectations her father, her handlers, and her fans have thrust on her. As far as her ever being a force on the PGA tour, as they say in Brooklyn, "fuhget about it!"

I thought you, being of the legal profession, would most certainly have addressed the key issues of the question:

Why was a young girl running inside a tunnel?

Did the publisher of the test footnote the question with a warning that this was a hazardous activity that the test taker should not personally attempt?

Is there not grounds for a lucrative class-action suit here?

Do I know anyone whose child might have been needlessly endangered by this patently dangerous and irresponsible question?

John Neal, Civil tort law is not my field of endeavor. My opinion is that the railroad in this case would not be culpable. Attempting to walk or run through a tunnel with a train bearing down at 60 mph is prima facie a reckless act. However, Jim C might bear some blame in case of a castrophy since he didn't offer a disclaimer on his hypothesis.

After what I've been through in my life, nothing anyone writes on an internet blog will ever strike a nerve with me or any person with the sense God gave a goose. One-Putt is right. Venom does no good. For your information, I'm about as far from being an imbecile as one can get. And your not dumb,either. Maybe just a bit misguided. Hey fellows, and I use the last term advisedly, you're really reading too much into my posts. You know, Miss Wie's father is reportedly a college professor. I have no reason to doubt that assertion. He is also a Korean, either by birth or ethnicity. It is well established that people of Korean ancestry are top-notch achievers, and that they encourage their offspring to be similar achievers. For this reason, it was undoubtedly quite difficult for BJ Wie to put Michelle on the path that he has chosen. But since she is obviously arithmetically challenged, and her chances of becoming a Nobel Prize winner in literature are slim and none, BJ, being possesed of that other Korean virtue known as pragmatism, shrugged and decided that his only child should excel at the sport of golf. And to no one's surprise, she's doing quite well at the trade that has been chosen for her. Now, if she would only win something, her fans night be able to contain their seething hatred at her detractors and go absolutely bat shit crazy with glee.

Kyle, I have one question: Is it possible for anyone to be as clueless as you are pretending to be? If you would be so kind as to look up the meaning of the word "Oriental", you would find that it means originating or being native to the "East", which was at the time in the eastern direction from Europe. China, India, Japan, Korea, etc., were and are still all parts of the Orient. All of Asia is Oriental. Miss Wie is absolutely not Asian at all. She is a natural-born US citizen. She certainly is of Oriental heritage. Kyle, your history lesson is over. We may have testing on the aforementioned material at a later date.

One-Putt, I thought of contacting BJ but then I realized that they would probably be searching for someone much younger than me, someone with fire in his belly, possibly like Kyle. As far as tutoring her in math, Kyle could probably do it since he has had recent success at his own SAT's. He also would do well in tutoring the verbal part although the written part might be a little shaky.

Alex - I'm an Asian-American (I was born in the U.S. but my parents were born in Taiwan). Kyle is right about the use of the term Oriental. I usually hear it from old law partners (80 and older) or from people from small towns who have never met an Asian.
