Phil Mickelson's jump into course design not news to TravelGolf.com readers

It’s been amusing to see many declare Phil Mickelson’s talk about getting into course design this week earth-shattering news. TravelGolf.com readers only heard about it a year ago.

That’s when Mickelson talked to us about it at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. Last year’s Bob Hope. To read the whole story, click here.

Give Mickelson and his marketing team credit though. After the fanfare Tiger Woods’ received on his design move, they probably figured they could get even more publicity this time. And it worked.

They fooled a lot of people, including unfortunately some who work here. It didn’t really surprise me that our Willie K. Wolfrum failed to realize the news had been broken on his own Web site almost a year ago. K. spends so much time calling all Republicans evil he rarely gets a chance to read an actual golf story.

But when BTuck made the same omission, it was like a slap in the face from that annoying little brother.

Thankfully, TravelGolf.com readers are sharper than the employees. When the “news” broke this week, Sylvia Taliaferro wrote a comment on it at the original article.

Sylvia knows that if it happens in golf, you’ve probably read about it on TravelGolf.com first. Eventually the people who work here will catch on too.

i love it when you rip your fellow writers. it's your best writing - by far. golf writers are so cannibalistic - and catty. it's like a good tv drama -"Desperate Golf Writers" - "hungry golf writers climb over one another in a high-stakes battle for perks and freebies"

A year ago I was floating around working on a boat in the Caribbean and not even in golf writing, but it is my fault, I really should have gone through your entire archives before signing back on. Shame on me.

No, BTuck. You should just assume that if it’s “news” in the golf world, it’s been on TravelGolf, com first. A simple google search would do. Sometimes the excuse is worse than the actual slight. At least give me a “I was juggling five Polish babes this week instead of the usual four.”

Something. By the way, readers love this behind the curtain glimpse
