County Line Pizza gives ritzy rich Palm Beach an affordable, tasty restaurant option

Strolling the restaurants along the Worth Avenue section of Palm Beach can bring sticker shock - not to mention suit shock - for even a former New Yorker.

Forget the $30 entree. Try the $45 entree and the $20 appetizer.

And everyone seems to be wearing a suit, a tie and a Rolex. The suits are actually sort of refreshing. People long ago stopped dressing up like this for dinner even in sophisticated Gotham. Though to be fair, many think Palm Beach is about two decades behind the times in most things. Still, it’s nice to know you can still get a good meal somewhere without sitting next to a guy in a T-shirt.

The prices are as ridiculous as most of the characters in the Anna Nicole Smith story though.

Thankfully, there are other options. One of the best is County Line Pizza in Juno Beach, a satellite community of Palm Beach.

This sitdown spot with a bar in a nondescript shopping center has very good thin crust pizza. Some claim it’s the best pizza in Florida. Which doesn’t mean it’s as good as some thin crust spots in the Northeast, but why quibble?

It is tasty enough that many of the millionaires who live in the nearby luxury community of Frenchman’s Creek - people who can afford to eat anywhere - are regulars. It’s also a little eccentric with some of its topping combinations.

Go to County Line Pizza and eat well for under $20. In the Palm Beach region, that’s a very special indulgence.

I ate a pizza once in the Hamptons, in 2004, actually, when the Open was played at Shinnecock. The pizza was good and hot, dumb me, and burned the roof of my mouth. Never once did I feel like I wasn't being judged...all the Hampton Summer Folk had their scopes on and were assessing my importance. Silly they! Were you getting the ogle in Palm Beach?

Juno a "satellite community of Palm Beach?" Since when? You're right, their pie is OUTSTANDING, though.

Great pizza is hard to come by so I can understand why the high society would be regulars. :)
