Erica Blasberg is hotter than Natalie Gulbis and still winless on LPGA

Thursday August 2, 2007 | 00:13:11 282 words, 6798 views
Win a free golf book!

All these male sportswriters who’ve gone absolutely bonkers over Natalie Gulbis winning her first tournament in more than five years on Tour is hilarious but misguided. WorldGolf.com’s own Special K and BTuck’s reactions were predictable. But GolfDigest’s Ron Sirak practically awarded her a Purple Heart for finally coming up with a single W.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg in blog land.

It’s like these guys expect Gulbis to invite them to the prom if they send enough verbal bouquets her way.

Only problem is Gulbis was never the hottest golfer without a win. That honor did and still does belong to Erica Blasberg, the 23-year-old former Pac-10 Player of the Year at Arizona. Blasberg blows Gulbis away in hotness (check out her picture here). Unfortunately, she also could one day match Gulbis in futility too, having never really come close to a W so far.

The difference is that Blasberg gets little extra attention for being smoking. I wrote a column at the LPGA Championship on how Blasberg sent her putter flying in pure tantrum and went unnoticed while everyone focused on Michelle Wie.

And yes, not only does Blasberg wear short shorts, she is a fiery competitor. She has more real personality than the model-packaged Gulbis in one of her pinkies. And yet Blasberg, while recognized by LPGA devotees like BTuck, still gets beat out in lame internet hotness polls by the eternally overrated Danica Patrick of all people.

This is your true tragedy in women’s golf. Not the fact that Natalie Gulbis took years and years to get one win.

Though it is pretty tragic that some fools now actually think Gulbis is a good golfer.

I don't know man, I met em both---gotta go with Gulbis in hotness. Blasberg may be cuter though...Are you taking the girl home to mom or to a movie premier?

Yeah, maybe Baldwin. But you have to admit that Sophie Sandolo - but for that one pesky victory of hers - blows Erica Blasberg (Gulbis too) out of the water.

Let's see: Gulbis just beat every top female golfer in the world in a 72 hole tournament and you are saying she is not a good golfer? In the history of idiotic statements, that's gotta rank near the top.

Is BranTu Baldwin's illegitimate son? He seems to fawn over the little sprout a bit. Proud papa, that's nice! Go to ericablasberg.com to see way too many pictures of someone who seems quite in love with herself.

Gulbis ain't hot. She just seems... willing.

Besides, have you heard her voice? At some point, you're gonna sober up and have to talk to her, even if only to tell her to catch a cab home.

After watching some of her show on GC I think she's better at a distance and not talking.

I'll take Stacy Prammanasudh over the rest and wouldn't put Erica Blasberg any higher on the list than Paula Creamer. Both attractive but not "hot".

ToddCommish,
What a lame post. She just seems ... willing. Willing to do what, win golf tournaments? Why would you need to be drunk when talking to her? When you have daughters or sisters, you don't make those types of comments. You know better.

Baldwin's smoking crack again. Erica is
cute, but not hot. Gulbis isn't even
hot...like ToddCommish says, she just
looks ready to go at the slightest
provocation. That doesn't necessarily
make a girl attractive, but for geeks,
maybe so.

Ron, why so combative? I'm merely pointing out that many men (not me) find her attractive simply because she gives off a "morally ambiguous" vibe.

She's the one who's been posing partially clothed for magazines, and you're telling ME how I shouldn't interpret it as "willing"?!?! And doing it angrily and judgmentally?

Dude, lighten up.

Don't pay any heed to RonMon's pretend feminist rantings ToddCommish.

He's a self-admitted cart girl abuser.

I am 100% angry and judgmental. According to the forecast, there is no chance of my lightening up. Would you say that Tiger appears willing because he wears the tightest shirts on tour? It's a sexist remark anyway you look at it. Ever since the day Baldwin was hatched from his egg, he's had trouble with anything remotely feminine. That's why he's so keen to jump on board.

If you stand them on their heads, they all look alike.

I would like to thank Mr Montenegro for the Sophie Sandolo link. In her 2007 calendar, the cover shot shows her topless....and a FINE top it is indeed! ;) Natalie doesn't even come CLOSE!

Ron,

"Would you say that Tiger appears willing because he wears the tightest shirts on tour?"

Uh, the next time Tiger poses in a bikini with his hair tossed around like a streetwalking strumpet... Yeah, I'd say he looked "willing".

And my remark was SUPPOSED to be sexist. I was responding to a sexist column. Whaddya expect, an analytical remark?

BV, wasn't me on that link. I'm a Stacy P fan myself.

When you can beat Natalie on the course, then you can talk about her. Until then, you can have her in your back pocket by buying her MasterCard gift card at www.nataliecard.com

Sorry, Chris, you're just wrong. First off Gulbis is hotter and has one of the best personalities on tour - ask the players. Natalie has a six-pack to Blasberg's soft middle. Furthermore, Gulbis has been a really competitive golfer for many years, including top 6 on the money list in 2005. Blasberg has yet to establish herself as a player in any regard. You are just wrong on every level.
