I'd say that the Big Island is the only one you should even consider staying on for a whole trip. NOt only is it big (hence the name), it is by far the most diverse. Kauai is WAY under-rated, opposite of Oahu, which can be avoided (uless you want to surf the North Shore or eat Japaese noodles without going to Japan).

I read in one the Hawaii newspapers somewhere that the Hawaii Superferry was to run only from Oahu to Maui, yet you state its going from Maui to the Big Island. I'm confused!
