Pro golfers in pictures with Texas trainer who allegedly supplied Andy Pettitte's HGH

The New York Daily News’ comprehensive investigation of the Texas gym where Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte says some of the HGH he took came from includes a little nugget that should have made PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem spit up his frosted flakes this Sunday morning.

The Daily News reports that 1 on 1 Elite Personal Fitness, which is owned by Pettitte’s childhood friend Kelly Blair, has several pictures of pro golfers training with Blair on its walls.

Now just because a golfer is in a picture working out with a trainer who runs a gym that a whistleblower source tells the New York Daily News received regular shipments of HGH and several designer steroids doesn’t mean he’s taken anything. But it sure should make Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger who’s cried loudly about the indignity of having to pee in front of a drug test sample collector step back for a moment.

Finchem might want to pipe down about how golfers are too honorable to ever take performance enhancing drugs too. And the remaining fools who claim HGH and steroids couldn’t help you in golf … well, you’re never going to change their minds (To read WorldGolf.com’s Mark Nessmith’s measured analysis on why steroids would help pro golfers, click here.)

The New York Daily News hasn’t revealed yet which pro golfers it saw in pictures with Blair on the gym’s wall. And the only golfer featured in photos on 1 on 1 Elite Personal Fitness’ website is struggling want-to-be PGAer Shaun Helmle, a former Texas A&M golfer. And again, Helmle in a photo alone doesn’t mean anything. But if you’ve seen the paper’s coverage at all, you can assume the names of the pro golfers seen in gym photos will be coming out in one of several follow ups.

Could the PGA Tour’s first direct steroid questions - and right now you can’t say they’d be anything more than questions - be coming? Finchem’s frosted flakes won’t taste the same until we find out.
