Virginia Tech gets what it deserves in NCAA Tournament miss, Tiger Woods the one bracket snubbed
Sunday March 16, 2008 | 21:50:20 398 words, 3390 views
It’s too bad that all of sports talking heads and its gambling bracket junkies are so wrapped up in whining about those pathetically annoying “snubbed” teams (and you’re the No. 1 crybabies this year, Virginia Tech Hokies). For all this mind-numbing NCAA Tournament talk (scientific studies have shown listening to Digger Phelps knocks off five IQ points a minute) obscures the continuation of the greatest story in sports history. That of course is Tiger Woods’ undefeated 2008 season. This fall when Tiger is wrapping up this unprecedented feat of brilliance, walking off the green in the last FedEx Cup event having won every single tournament he entered in 08, people will be talking about that 25-foot birdie putt and hat slam in the Bay Hill today. But on the day it actually happened, it’s doomed to get the kind of play a WNBA game typically rightfully receives. We’re talking Arizona State! Arizona State, a college basketball team that’s about as remarkable as a budget motel’s toilet paper, gets prime billing? Please, the only reason anyone cares about who’s in and out of the NCAA Tournament is because of gambling. And 100 years from now everyone will recognize it as they look at this ridiculous overhype. But Tiger’s 08 season will only grow and grow in mythic proportions as the decades roll on. Again, this is the greatest single season in all of sports - every sport, every age - and it’s playing out before your eyes. Normally, this would be the point where I give WorldGolf.com’s William K. Wolfrum props for being the first to see the perfection Tiger was planning. But K.’s gone off the deep end of self love with yet another blog only about … well, himself. Now I know what Michael Vick’s agent must have felt like. It’s my job to promote you, K. When you do it yourself, it only makes you look as cheap as Eliot Spitzer’s call girl. OK, she was really sort of expensive. You’re more like a Hugh Grant Hollywood Boulevard pick-up special. Why must you cheapen yourself? Do you really have as little self respect as those Hokie fans? Yes, you came close to Carolina, VT whine squad. But you lost every single freaking big game you played. Enjoy the NIT. Your rightful landing spot. Hope Morgan State beats you.

Sorry Hokie fans. Left out, and deserved to be left out. The Hokies had one win against a top-50 team. Quit whining.

Yeah, I let you down on this one Chris. It's kind of like when Tom cruised fired his agent and hired his sister to do the job. And within minutes the entire world realized what had long been hidden - that Cruise is a flaming nutcase.
I will try to learn from Cruise's mistake and let you handle the PR for me on the undefeated season prediction. I just got all worked up and had to jump up on the couch and express my deep love for myself. My bad. Bill

Ironic that in complaining about so-called whining, you are whining. The NCAA tournament is hardly taking away from Tiger Woods coverage for more than a couple days. What do you have against a group of fans loyal to their team?
Spare the hyperbole please. Tech is floating through the NIT and looks looks as out of place as caviar at a hardees. They havent won by less than 25 points. The truth is that tech, even with its weak schedule, would destroy zona, oregon, or any st joes or any of the other powderpuffs let in. And its great that techs bitter; they get 57% of their minutes from freshman.

I accidentally came to this website and found you talking nonsense about Virginia Tech. First of all, who the heck are you. Secondly, is that the best picture you could find of yourself? And finally, I now feel dumber for reading your column. Good luck with your writing, you might need to pick up a copy of "Writing for Dummies" at your local bookstore.
