Opening day&#039;s are crap, except for the ticket-buyers and ten-year old kids with stars in their eyes.  The rest of us glance at the paper or the t.v., say &quot;oh, it&#039;s opening day,&quot; and go on with our lives.  Our son rowed in the Head of the Charles regatta last Fall, and nobody in Boston/Cambridge other than crew aficionados gave a rat&#039;s bass.&lt;br /&gt;

I think that it is a coup for Finchem to get as high-profile a sponsor as Mercedes for his opener.  However, with the afore-mentioned dearth of big names, we might wonder how long the Merc will pony up for a typical tourney.</description>
