I attest to the Applebee's comment. I was a waiter for five summers there - man, I wish more "me's" waiting on me in Europe. No such thing as the "two minute check back" or "free refill" and I think it would be easier getting the attention of Dan Patrick at a celeb golf tourney than getting the check.

You better believe the first thing I'm doing when I get back to the states is going to a buffet, filling a 32 oz. Dr. Pepper with ice and getting 4-5 refills.

Also, when were you in Spain, 15 years ago? It's on the Euro now and I can guarantee you won't find a place that cheap anymore. You can barely find those kind of bargains in the Czech Republic or Poland, both slated to go to the Euro soon.

Damn the EU. Sure, it probably means no more World Wars will break out of the continent, but it simply KILLS American travelers wallets these days.
