Like I said, any google or yahoo search for "glass stomach" and "head" will show that it's not some obscure reference.

And I prefer the term "star crimper" over "brown-star cluster". It's more obsure but always makes me chuckle.
Rick,

Sorry to pile-on, dear fellow.

I run in medical circles as well. First time I ever heard of that one.

I was a Marine as well. And as Alex will attest, you hear just about everything, b/c you have every race, creed, color from across the country represented. Never heard it uttered before.

I would be willing to offer assistance in providing colorful retorts, should you need it. Marines have developed many inventive and humorous "off-color" phrases.

One popular phrase from my Marine Corps days...

"Wow, Rory really shot the brown-star cluster on Sunday, didn't he".

If you can figure that one out, you get a gold star for day. Alex, you aren't allowed to answer.

I'm originally from 100 miles outside Chichago and spent 9 years in the Quad City region with many long weekends in the Windy City. I run in medical circles but have a brother-in-law who is an attorney in the QCA so I'll have to ask if he's ever heard of the expression.

At 65, you probably have heard of it but just forgot...... ;-) Couldn't resist.

Rick,

I'm approaching 65, and I agree that it's not much to talk about.

In my firm, we have about 60 people working at any one time. Their ages range from 25 to me at the high end. None have ever heard that expression. Neither have my sons or sons-in-law who are ages 40 to 28.

This is the hip, cosmopolitan city of Chicago, so that if it isn't regional, it is virtually unknown.
I can't believe we are continuing to discuss this. It's not regional. A google search of "glass stomach" and "head" will give you a number of examples of it's use.

And I'm 36. I've lived all over the US.

Sorry Rick, I didn't get that punch line either. so I asked my boys about that and they'd never heard that before either.
boys ages 25 29 and 32. Not exactly ancient so they might have heard of it. Two of them live in Calgary, the heart of American commerce in Canada. So if it was an American thing, they'd have heard it there, I'm sure.

Colloquialism ?
Thanks. It may have been self-explanatory to a young fellow like you.
Jeff and I just don't get that type of humor.
