Our hearts go out to Ernie. We have suffered the same fate when our son, Philip, was diagnosed end of 2007 (at the age of 3.5) as being on the Autistic Spectrum. I can not begin to describe how this changes a family and everyone in the family. We also have a daughter (age 7) who is fine - extrememly talented as a matter of fact. She has had to endure tremendous strain for such a little girl and coped amazingly well.

Everybody is saying how wonderful it is for Autism generally and that Ernie's notoriety will shine more light on Autism. Nobody has however expressed any sympathy to this giant (in more ways than one).

When a family gets told that their child will be living with Autism for the rest of his life, a family needs to go through all the stages of grief - just like loosing a loved one!

Our thoughts and hearts are with you, Ernie. We're sorry to hear about Ben. Thank God he has the parents he has.
