Another inflammatory commentary by a person who knows too little of the history, rivalry, or entertainment value of hockey. It may not be as main stream/promoted as football, but hockey players RELAX by playing golf. I've yet to see Tiger or the greats lace up a pair of skates to get away from the fury that is the golf season... lol... sigh. Ah, well. as a fan of golf but a journalist more so, I find it sad that you resort to maligning, with indignities, 1) another sport, and 2) fans of said sport. to even respond back to critics of your own post likens this topic to an AOL-ish chat room dispute in 1998. I cannot speak on the validity on your golfing skills, but if your writing style gives any evidence, your prudence in nonexistent. as the saying goes, those who can’t, teach( or write about it.) the difference between you and most of us in journalism is that your attempt at being pithy comes across idiotic.

How in the hell is it that hockey fans are dumber than a box of rocks? I graduated with a master's degree with distinction at one of the finest colleges in England and...oh dear, I'm a big hockey fan. Never mind. Game over.

And, pray tell, how does one objectively justify saying that basketball is "superior" sport to hockey? That's a subjective opinion and it could just as easily be argued that hockey is superior to basketball. At the end of the day, sport is a matter of personal taste.

I don't really care if Tiger doesn't like hockey or isn't interested in it. I took issue with his attempt to speak on behalf of everyone by saying nobody watches hockey. That would be the equivalent of me saying "Nobody likes golf" which is untrue (ask any hockey player...a lot of them LOVE golf.) He probably was just speaking without thinking, and that happens. Even when it's Tiger. I let it go.

But to deliberately generalize and insult a whole class of sports fans from the safety of your own blog? Please.
