If you really want to test your apparent love of blind shots, try the 5th at Prestwick in Scotland. It's a blind par 3 of approx. 160 to 200 yards called Himalayas. You must play over a large hill where you're only point of reference is a marker on top of the hill. Yes, it was fun, but I don't know that I'd want a steady diet of it.

Agreed, Chris. Blind shots are fun, and an integral part of the game. Maybe most Americans dislike them so much because you can't buy any technology that'll help overcome them.

It's sort of a homage to that idea, BTuck. Though Erin Hills' rooms are decidedly more upscale with Egyptian cotton sheets and flat screen TVs. The smallest among them also run $195 a night, which isn't much more than staying at the Milwaukee Marriott, but not cheap either.

As long as you're not in one of your pure hostel moods, Tuck, you'd love it. Look for a story on the accomodations too soon at WisconsinGolf.com.

As for you HuntGroup, what is it with so many of my fellow Americans (BTuck is another exception there) despising blind shots so much? They're a fun, strategic part of the game.

For more on that, you'll get a future blog.
Those eight little rooms in the clubhouse sound like "Dormy rooms" that a lot of U.K. clubs have. Cheap, functional lodging right on site. There's some street cred points for Erin Hills.
The golf course at Erin Hills is stunningly overrated, unless you enjoy blind shots, poorly maintained fairways, approaches, and perimeter areas, confusing routing, and paying over $200 (with cart) for the privilege. The pro shop charges a hefty additional fee of $45 for the privilege of allowing you to take a caddie, whom you must pay separately. While the Club House and Pub are exceptional, the course has a long way to go before being worthy of the accolades heaped upon it.
