Thoughts on Donald Ross, John Harris and Laura Neal
Sunday July 30, 2006 | 10:31:17 308 words, 932 views
Just a variety of thoughts about golf in general that Eye On Golf has been collecting as time goes by… In some of his thoughts on golf architecture Donald Ross says, Take advantage of the opportunities, and you may secure holes with distinct interest that will furnish a constant joy to those who play them. Congrats to John Harris who won for the first time on the Champions Tour at the Commerce Bank Championship. Harris had a stellar amateur career, winning the 1993 U.S. Amateur, before turning pro to follow the senior circuit. Thing is, this was the second time Harris turned pro, apparently playing professional golf in his younger days. Now I don’t begrudge Harris a chance to follow his dream regardless of how many times he has to flip-flop between pro and amateur, however, the line between professional and amateur seems to be blurring considerably. Pretty soon it’ll be difficult for the USGA to run a strictly amateur event. Here’s an interesting question: Who has the toughest job in golf right now? My vote goes to Laura Neal, the Public Relations director for the LPGA. There are figurative bullets and bombs incoming from all directions. We have to commend her for keeping her sense of humor when all around her are ducking under the desk or hiding in bunkers. Comments:No Comments for this post yet... Leave a comment: |
