Tiger Wins! Finchem may cancel 2007 season.
Monday January 29, 2007 | 07:23:04 197 words, 2495 views
Okay, so I finally got to watch a little final round PGA Tour golf yesterday. The PGA Tour has played sixteen competitive rounds so far this year and I’ve watched 9 of 288 holes. A grand total of 36 holes have been offered on the major networks. (Note to Tim Finchem: Way to make the game more visible to the public.) I have yet to see the TV ratings, but I’ll bet CBS hit the jackpot, relatively speaking – Tiger in the hunt, broadcast on network television, and no football. (Oh, did you know the Super Bowl ... full post »
Callaway FT-1 stretches the bounds of decent looking golf clubs
Tuesday January 23, 2007 | 07:13:20 171 words, 2718 views
So the Callaway Rep came by to see us the other day. And, of course, he had the new “square headed” driver with him. I believe it’s the FT-1 or something like that. Sounds like an airplane that’s under consideration and testing. Price point about $1.5 billion per engine.
Anyway, during our discussions about all the wonderful new toys and balls that Callaway has for 2007, we were informed that this ball goes farther and that one goes straighter. These irons are more forgiving than these here for the better player.
So I asked the question, “Don’t you think that ... full post »
Callaway FT-1 a Sight to Behold

Sounds like an airplane that’s under consideration and testing. Price point about $1.5 billion per engine. And it does look like it could be used for some mild construction while it’s on hiatus from the links.
Anyway, during our discussions about all the wonderful new toys and balls that Callaway has for 2007, we were informed that this ball goes farther and that one goes straighter. ... full post »
PGA Punter implored to provide odds on FedEx(Lax) Cup

After a couple of weeks in Hawaii the PGA Tour moves back to the mainland. And I suspect that there is now a chance in the very near future (but not this week) that those of us who do not subscribe to the Golf Channel, either by our own personal choice, geographical limitations, or a myriad of other concrete reasons, will be afforded the opportunity to watch a little PGA Tour golf.
But this absence of televised golf the past couple of weeks of our lives has not necessarily been a bad thing. We actually accomplished a few tasks ... full post »
No Tiger at the Mercedes; the Golf Channel still thinks so!
Saturday January 6, 2007 | 08:41:45 226 words, 2123 views
You see, we took the weekend to get away. Not far, just to Tucson, a mere 65 miles away. No golf, no football…well, maybe a little.
Anyway, I wanted to see how the golf was going so I went to my favorite golf website (other than www.travelgolf.com) and began to look through the leaderboard. What no Tiger? No Phil? Actually I did know they were not playing. But you know what? Some Advertising Guru at the Golf Channel does not. Yesterday (Friday), while surfing through the channels here in Tucson, there on ... full post »
Eye On Golf bares its golfing soul for 2007
Monday January 1, 2007 | 07:51:27 355 words, 1566 views
Eye On Golf will begin 2007 with a couple of soul-baring revelations and one cautionary note to our faithful readers. The first pertains to our organization itself and the other with my own personal trials and tribulations as a golfer and a writer. (Unfortunately, this will not be autobiographical in nature.) Finally we’ll examine the reading habits of our readers.
I would suspect that few of Eye On Golf’s fans are aware of the size of our organization. In the past couple of years we have not only increased our journalistic duties, but also the size of ... full post »
