Can you spare a dollar for Spree?
Wednesday November 3, 2004 | 03:06:16 164 words, 568 views
Tuesday marked the opening of another NBA season, but it’s nice to see several stars in midseason form, starting with Minnesota’s overrated Latrell Sprewell. The T-Wolves’ current contract offer is three years at $27 million, so you can understand why Spree would be offended. “If they don’t want to sign me, I want to go somewhere else,” Sprewell told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. “Why would I want to help [the Timberwolves] win a title? They’re not doing anything for me. I’ve got a lot at risk here. I’ve got my family to feed.” Are you kidding me? Could there be a more ignorant athlete in sports? Apparently, $40,000 per day (his current salary) isn’t enough for Sprewell’s six kids. Unbelievable. The NBA should fine Sprewell 40 grand just for the stupidity of his comment. If I’m running the T-Wolves, I cut Sprewell immediately. Doesn’t matter how it hurts me on the court or financially. The city deserves better. And so does the league and its fans.
