Everyone assumes golf is pretty clean, but one never knows. Certainly dope won't help with putting or driving accuracy, so the only advantage is sheer length, with or without accuracy.

I don't think testing is that big an inconvenience. For golf to be up front wouldn't hurt.

It is a sad testament that Mr. Cary chose not to read the book as it has received many good reviews - from current players as well. It also shows the intent to be objective if one reads that which he/she plans to comment on. A Caddie is a human being and should not be judged only on the merits of being a caddie. He is a race car driver and has the gumption to give back to charity. Only a caddie you say? So what are NASCAR drivers? They are placed on a pedestial - not necessarily for their intellegence. So let's not judge Steve just because he goes after guys with cameras. Do you have a book Mr. Carey and is it as critically good at S. Williams?

I played the course years ago when it cost $85 and I was an 18 handicap. I enjoyed the apres golf a good deal more than the round. Strawberries & cream and Moet on the patio overlooking the 18th green and the Pacific with three people whose company I really enjoyed was fine. Without the friends it would have been just another fine California course. For $425 I could play Sand Piper down near Santa Barbara four times. That would be value. Even among the well off there is no cachet in saying "I paid $425 to play Pebble Beach." I have played Royal St. Andrews and a host of other fine courses for reasonable money and enjoyed them far more. It isn't the money - which is of course grand theft golf - it's playing a nice course with people you care about.

Last time I heard his show he was talking about how he did a bad show because he had crabs. I've heard enough.

Never heard Rome talk about that. I don't like Rome's delivery and I think most radio people have some kind of inferiority complex to TV folks which causes them to say outrageous things with little substance, but I usually agree with his points.

And you use the Google comment like its a diss or something. I'm proud of what I've accomplished on the 21st century's new God (at least for those of us who get paychecks based on its rankings. I sacrifice a baby goldfish every night for Google, look where its gotten me).

The treetops event is usually a low key event with a laid back atmosphere. But can you imagine what it would be like this time around. The place would be packed with media hounding Phil and constantly asking him about the 18th at Winged Foot. I would like to see him out there as much as the next fan, I just guess he wants to stay away with his family for some more untill he is perfectly ready to face the mauling from the press.
