Golf Channel show the "Big Break" big for Michigan, Boyne

I got my first look at the “Big Break X: Michigan” last night.

I liked what I saw. I’ve been to Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs just a couple times, so it’s always a special treat to see it again, especially those cool scenery shots on TV.

It’s evident this show is big for Michigan and Boyne USA Resorts. The summer images are delicious for golfers not used to playing in the northern woods (Florida, Arizona, Texas, that’s you!)

Pure Michigan, the state’s official advertising campaign, has been pumping out commercials during the telecast to showcase our lakes and beaches.

Last night’s show was big for another reason. The local Michigan couple, two former Michigan State University players who married recently, won $10,000 in a challenge and gave the cash to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.

Like I said, big for Michigan at a time when there’s not much good news going on around here. The Wolverines are having their worst season in 41 years. The weather’s getting dreary. The economy is lousy. The foreclosure market is worse than most anywhere else. The auto industry is in the dumper.

It’s nice to have a show to remind people why we love this beautiful state.
