Even the world’s richest and most recognized athlete isn’t immune to the economic downtown. Yep, Tiger Woods got his pink slip from General Motors. GM and Tiger released a statement saying it was “mutual” that Woods’ endorsement deal was done, but come on. We all no better. Comments:

How best to save GM (and the Big Three?) Start by selling the corporate jets these guys ride around in.
Next, take the combined pay (and extra perks that all of the powers-that-be receive (enough to govern a small country) as well as their multi-million dollar homes using it to restructure their companies. They made the mess..it is not up to taxpayer dollars to clean it up. Oh, sorry...wasn't this story about Tiger Woods? I'm not crying for him either.
It should have happened a lot sooner. There is no way GM got anywhere near the return on the money they paid Tiger.
Going further, how many Buicks were actually sold because the relationship with Tiger and the PGA? My guess is not many. It's all garbage so the people up at the top can feel important and like they are doing something. Even though they have not been in the black in decades.
If Woods returned every penny to Buick that he had ever received from them, and if every executive gave back every dollar that they were paid for the last ten years along with the proceeds from the sale of the private jets and their mansions, that amount might keep GM going for another two months.
The quandary in which GM finds itself is almost entirely due to the unrealistic and unsustainable so-called "legacy" expenses with which their exec's saddled the company. With about $80billion in unfunded liability to the pension and healthcare programs coming due, GM,as well as Ford and Chrysler, will never get back to any profitability. No corporation can spend such a sizable amount of its revenue on social programs that have nothing to do with the manufacture, marketing and sale of their products and expect to remain in business.
