2009 Puerto Los Cabos World Cup seeks fishermen who love golf
What happens when you mix celebrities, golf and fishing?
A party called the 2009 Puerto Los Cabos World Cup & Celebrity Golf Tournament will break out.
The inaugural tournament is set for Oct. 10-14 in Los Cabos on the tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. For golfers who love to fish (or vice versa), this event sounds like a fabulous way to experience some of the best sport fishing and golf in the world. Puerto Los Cabos is a fairly new course (opened in 2007) with a unique twist. It features a front nine by Greg Norman and a back nine by Jack Nicklaus, both with views of the Sea of Cortez. Come find out if the Shark gets the best of the Golden Bear.
After several days of fishing, golfers will play the hybrid course Oct. 14, followed by an outdoor concert featuring the Hit Men All Stars, a band comprised of members from Boston, the Steve Miller Band, Doobie Brothers, The Cars and Dire Straits.
I’ve never gone deep-sea fishing, but after learning more about this tournament while in Cabo San Lucas several weeks ago, it has me hyped to give it a try. I can vouch that one of the host hotels, the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort, is worthy of a trip on its own. Throw in the other stuff and you’ve got a week of fun to remember.
