What's been your most vivid golf dream?
My 7-year-old daughter woke my wife and I up last night with a sore tummy.
Why do you need to know?
Because it stirred me from the most vivid golf dream I can ever remember. The dream got me to thinking: Am I chasing golf balls every night in R.E.M.? I can’t help but wonder how many 53s I’ve shot while I’m sleeping (my only chance to do so). Or if I’ve ever had a golf nightmare while I’m under the covers and what exactly went wrong? (I’ve had plenty of real golf nightmares thanks to bad swings and obnoxious playing partners).
My dream went like this. I was riding a cart on a highway overpass. My host was driving and talking about the course we would play. Suddenly, emerging from view was this unique landscape set next to the sea. It looked gorgeous.
We arrived awkwardly, though, as this host drove the cart up the steps near the clubhouse and onto the brick pavers. I remember being appalled, yet I couldn’t do anything about it.
That’s when my visions ended. My daughter snapped me back to the real world. I hope I finish my dream tonight. I would love to play that course. Since it is winter here in Michigan, dreaming is the only way to get my golf fix on.
I wrote this same phrase on Facebook a few weeks ago, but I’m truly amazed what goes on in the back channels of the subconscious mind. If you dare to share, what’s been your most vivid golf dream?
