Boyne USA Resorts teams up with Forest Dunes Golf Club in northern Michigan
There’s a reason that Boyne USA Resorts is the king of Michigan’s golf scene.
It isn’t just the biggest on the block – Boyne USA Resorts owns three distinct resort properties and owns/operates nine golf courses. It is also the smartest.
Boyne continues to find new ways to entice golfers to book its packages. Last year, it added the Hidden River Golf & Casting Club in Brutus to its arsenal of courses. Hidden River has always been regarded as one of those “hidden gem” type courses that is fun to play but hard to find. When Boyne took over management last year, it gave Hidden River the magic formula to attract more players – a lodging component. The four-course Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs is just 12 miles from Hidden River.
The same formula applies to this year’s big catch: Forest Dunes Golf Club in Roscommon. Golfers who book golf packages through Boyne can now schedule a round at Forest Dunes (see photo above) for $59, a significantly reduced green fee for one of the country’s best modern designs. Forest Dunes, crafted by Tom Weiskopf, isn’t close to any Boyne property – it is 60 miles south of Boyne Mountain Resort and 90 miles from the Highlands. Still, it’s in a perfect location for many metro Detroiters who drive up Interstate 75 on their way to or from a Boyne vacation. Playing Forest Dunes is one of the state’s rarest treats. It’s worth going out of the way to find.
It’s a pretty creative alliance by both partners. The new ownership at Forest Dunes (see my story here) made a savvy move to attract players while its 22-room inn is being built this summer. Imagine a golf package that includes rounds at Bay Harbor in Petoskey, The Heather in Harbor Springs, Hidden River and Forest Dunes. Call 1-800-462-6963 to jump on this great opportunity.
