Stay and play golf at Hawk Hollow and Eagle Eye in the Michigan State Spartans' backyard for a great college football weekend
As a University of Michigan football fan, it pains me to write this, but the Michigan State Spartans appear poised for a championship run in the Big Ten’s Legends division.
They’ve got an awesome defense, an improving offense and best of all, a great new stay-and-play fall golf package in town.
Okay, the golf bit won’t matter on the field, but it matters to the fans like me who are looking for a fun golf-and-football weekend.
Sadly, nobody can play the gorgeous Alister MacKenzie-designed UM golf course on football Saturdays. Thousands of tailgaters park on it. And Michigan’s Radrick Farms Golf Course, Pete Dye’s first design, remains ultra-private. That leaves the Spartans as the hands-down winner when it comes to golf options near the stadium.
Eagle Eye Golf Club and 27-hole Hawk Hollow Golf Club, both under the same ownership in Bath just minutes from Spartan Stadium, have five brand new cottages available for golf groups. These condos are located less than a half-mile from the courses and within walking distance of restaurants and sports bars. Each unit features four separate bedrooms with private bathrooms, a full kitchen and living room.
The Spartans and Wolverines clash Nov. 2 in East Lansing. Hopefully, a terrific fall golf season lasts until then.
