Hey look, Annika won another trophy!
She picked up her seventh ESPY award last week when she won Best Female Athlete, beating tennis ace Maria Sharapova, basketball star Seimone Augustus, and swimmer Natalie Coughlin. Considering those awards are decided by popular vote, could this mean women?s golf is becoming more popular?
Sorenstam then hopped a plane for Evian-Les-Bains, France, to play in the Evian Masters. All that glamour and excitement might have cost her?she shot even par in the first round to end T23. But Annika being Annika, she cleaned up her own mess today with a six-under 66 to go into the weekend just two strokes behind co-leaders Paula Creamer and Christina Kim.
No, the Evian Masters isn?t the women?s Masters with a sponsor?s name tacked on–it?s not a major. But it does offer the second-biggest purse of the LPGA schedule, a fat $2.5 million, so don?t pooh-pooh it. Minor league or not, that’s worth playing for. Yeah, I’m talking to you, Rebel.
Keep an eye on the full leaderboard here.

Nice job photo-shopping Annika's face onto John Daly's body! :-o

It is interesting how pictures/TV distort body sizes/shapes. Annika has developed her arms and torso tremendously over the past 5 years. (Look for some before and after pictures and be amazed.) Nevertheless, in person, she is still diminutive by almost any yardstick. I nearly ran over her in the press tent at last year's Women's US Open; she barely came up to my shoulder. Cut, cute, petite, and able to outdrive most men. What a woman...

Annika Sorenstam is one of the greatest female athletes of our time, yet she still has not gotten the recognition she deserves. At least at the espys she recieved some notority from fellow athletes & fans by winning female athlete of the year award. She can look good in anything she dresses in. Congratulations & good luck Annika.
