An open invitation to Michael Jordan for golf in Champaign-Urbana

Win a free golf book!

The highest-profile college walk-on basketball player this season is surely Jeff Jordan, son of NBA legend Michael Jordan.

Jeff turned down four-year full rides at several mid-major universities to walk on at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

As luck would have it, UIUC is also where a certain golf writer also serves as a professor.

And we all know how much Mike likes golf.

So, without further ado, I extend an open invitation to His Airness to play golf here in Champaign-Urbana.

My treat.

Heck, the poor guy’s got to scrounge up the dough to pay for his kid’s college tuition. The least I can do is pick up the green fees.

Does Jeff Jordan have his dad’s basketball or golf game? Only time will tell.

Stupid column. Your chances of Mike responding are zero.

Way to write only to call attention to yourself.

There exist no authentic golf writers on TravelGolf, just peripheral wannabees -- hope you at least score a few freebie rounds for yourself.

Biggest freeloader: Dave Berner

Since perfessor boasts a unique spelling of his name, we have no option beyond trusting that his word is law. Bad Kiel, Bad Kiel!!!

What did Dave Berner do to this guy? Vendetta with a capital V, and you all know how I likes my caps!

Now, on to my response. Is it Champaign-Urbana, Urbana-Champaign, or as you spell it, Chapmaign-Urbana? Is this the same child that was in Space Jam? He's all/kinda grown-up? How time flies. Which schools offered him full rides?

Yeah Perfessor. Right on. Dave Berner is such a freeloader. He just hosts, produces, directs and puts together the best golf show anywhere. One with guests like John Feinstein, Natalie Gulbis and Darius Rocker. Damn that Berner. When is he going to start working?

And Kiel who knows more about golf equipment than any of the so-called experts at the big magazine sections/blatant advertising tie ins is surely second in line on the gravy train. Why hasn't he sold out to Callaway or Nike yet anyways? Damn that Christianson and his old school integrity.

Now is Kiel a likely loony liberal professor? No doubt. Freeloader? No.

Now if you had gone a different way Perfessor you would have had me at the Ron in Ron Mon.

Chris Baldwin sends me love all the time. Funny thing is, he agrees with my father-in-law.

Ron--The university is UIUC (Urbana-Champaign), while the normal designation is Champaign-Urbana, because Champaign is larger. The alternate spelling is a typo, naturally. D
