Miles of Golf in Ypsilanti, Michigan, like Disney World for golfers

Thursday July 17, 2008 | 17:47:29 205 words, 17651 views
Win a free golf book!

My kids are always after me to take them to Disney Word. I, of course, would rather spend money on a golf vacation.

Although it’s true that there are plenty of great golf courses in Orlando, with the price of gas, who can afford to drive, fly, or even hitchhike there anymore?

Far closer to my home in Illinois is the great golfing state of Michigan.

Not only are there more public courses in Michigan than any other state in the nation (believe it or not), there are monuments to all things golf, including some of the best golf stores, golf academies, and club-fitters in the nation.

One of the largest is Miles of Golf in Ypsilanti. For golfers, Miles of Golf makes The Epcot Center look small and dull.

One of the best attractions at Miles of Golf is the Cluboratory, where giddy golfers can get fit for every club in their bag, including, as of just recently, their putter. Lie, loft, hand position, length, weight. Each and every one can be tweaked to fit your individual stroke.

Just thinking about it makes me bounce up and down like Tigger. And I’ll take Ypsilanti over Disney any day.

The kids’ll get over it. Someday.

Hey Kiel my blog writing friend! Wow, your not as popular as me so I thought I would sqirt over and harrass you.

Hint: If you get as dumb as me and write like a infatuated loser concerning Romo like me, I guarentee increased blog traffic. Hey, for me, Golf's boring anyway, I just can't find anothe job.

Someone is doing the Chris Baldwin - visitor thing again. Mine is better than yours.

Ypsilanti is so much fun to pronounce and I guarantee that cluboratory would be a roller coaster of emotions as you imagined the heights you'd scale and the depths you'd plumb in the world of golf. Good luck.

WoW - thanks Kiel. This is an excellent post. I live in FL, so the more cotton-top or other tourist types you can keep out of the state and off our courses, the happier I'll be!

Points to you though - MI has a LOT of great golf. My favorite is Treetops and that killer par-3 course where they used to host the Par-3 Shootout.
