Eidolon wedges boast the boldest guarantee in golf equipment history
Tuesday September 9, 2008 | 11:32:55 304 words, 16239 views
My wedges are like my children. If I happen to leave one on a green, I panic – cold sweat, heart palpitations, the whole deal. I would wager that for most players, wedges are the clubs that are changed or updated least often. I know guys that switch putters faster than John McCain switches policy positions. And each season, another generation of drivers hits the market, promising short-knockers some vague promise of “hope.” But wedges, well, they grow to become a part of most of us. So switching wedges is scary. But now Eidolon Golf, maker of the best wedges you’ve never heard of, is allaying golfers’ fears by offering the boldest guarantee in golf: If you don’t like their wedge, they’ll buy you one you like better. The program works like this, according to a company press release: “Any customer who buys an EIDOLON GOLF V-SOLE wedge, plays with it for 30 days and doesn’t agree that it is the finest scoring tool he or she has ever played, can return the wedge to EIDOLON and the company will buy the customer any competing wedge on the market the customer believes he or she would like better. In addition, EIDOLON GOLF will send the customer a $10 bill with the replacement wedge to cover the cost of shipping back the EIDOLON wedge.” Now, I’ve seen some great guarantees – even a golf glove with a lifetime warranty. But this deal by Eidolon is by far the best. After reviewing Eidolon’s first wedges years ago, I kept them in my bag and still play them. I just gave my father-in-law an Eidolon sand wedge, and it is the first sand wedge he’s ever been able to hit consistently. This is all purely anecdotal, I know, but maybe the Eidolon folks are actually onto something, besides a gutsy guarantee.

It's attention-grabbing but just plain dumb. What's to stop the morons of the world from asking for a high-priced wedge, even if the Eidolon is the better club? I like Eidolon's wedges and would probably be playing them, but the "other guy" grabbed them during a club test a few years back and kept them. I do like my Miura, however.

Hai, wakarimasu. Watashi-mo Miura-o daisukidesu. Totemo sugoidesu-ne! Gambatte-yo, Mon-san!
You wrote, "I know guys that switch putters faster than John McCain switches policy positions." Sounds to me like you are a Democrat trying to get a dig at McCain while you should be writing about golf!! Would you have considered writing, "I know guys that switch putters faster than Barack Obama switches policy positions."
Write about golf, leave the politics out!!! You are not a political analyst!!
Actually Juan05, I am. But that's another story.
And if you could read past your own biases, you'd have also noted the criticism of Obama (hint: it has to do with drivers).

What I wish to establish is, did you write it yourself or did you dump it into a web translator?
Myself. I lived in Japan for nearly 4 years. But even so, I would have had trouble in a media interview. :)

Well, I'm impressed. I did an interview in Spain two years ago and acquitted myself well. Since I teach the language for a living, I ought to.
