Crunch Time golf gift Idea #3: Path Finder System by Yes! Golf

What to give the golfer who is, like me, barricaded inside his home while yet another winter storm (ice, this time) rages outside?

Something that she or he can use inside without potentially breaking a light fixture on the backswing, or making him or her pine for the verdant fairways too badly. Yes, that would be perfect.

Hey, hold on… Yes! would be perfect. Specifically, the Path Finder System by Henri Reis, which is on sale from now through the end of the year for $66 (normally $99).

The Path Finder is a putting training aid consisting of a small black plate with alignment lines and a mirror upon which your ball sits. As you address your ball, your eyes should be staring back up at you. The key part of the system, though, are six magnetic pegs that fit into the plate in variable positions. These help you to groove your stroke (straight back and through or more of a closed-to-open-to-closed style): if you get off-line, your putterhead bumps the little pegs.

Very advanced, very clever, yet very straightforward. The system comes with a carrying case, target cup, and an instructional DVD.

If it only came with an ice-chipper and some salt…

When you travel to different golf courses, do you collect items from them? Say, a tee, or keep your score card etc? What do you do with these items that you do keep? My uncle travels around the world and brings home memrobilia from each course he plays at. Currently this memrobilia is in a drawer, and I was wondering if there was a product that you could purchase that can hold, or display this in a better way so he can reminisce? Thanks for your comments.

Rachel--Great question. I have indeed seen display cases for balls, scorecards, pencils, and bagtags in places like Nevada Bob's and Golf Discount, also in the SkyMall magazine on flights. What I haven't seen, though, is a display case design that would allow you to display the ball, card, pencil, tee, and bagtag from courses all together, grouped by the course. It might be bulky, but it would be very cool.

What happened to Tim McDonald and Chris Baldwin. I miss their wonderful positive remarks about people.
