lumpen? Really? Do you think any of us low-brow readers know that word? OK, I'm off to thesaurus.com...hold on...nothing. Wait, there's dictionary.com...transferring...here we go:

of or pertaining to disfranchised and uprooted individuals or groups, esp. those who have lost status: the lumpen bourgeoisie.

Nicely done! Most golf bags I encounter on a daily basis fit the description; they rarely raise their eyes to make contact with mine, preferring to holster clubs in the way they were taught as young sacks. It's a shame, how beaten-down and devoid of hope for a better tomorrow they are. Kudos to you for bringing their plight into the public eye.
