New Mid-weight John Daly uses new Mid-Weight Heavy Putter for runner-up finish
Wednesday May 13, 2009 | 16:24:14 205 words, 16033 views
Boccieri Golf announced last week that our old pal John Daly used its new Heavy Putter MID-WEIGHT K4 model en-route to a runner-up finish at the PGA European Tour’s BMW Italian Open two weeks ago at Royal Park I Roveri in Torino, Italy. For those of you not familiar with the Heavy Putter by Boccieri Golf, it is HEAVY. The original models were about twice as heavy as a conventional putter. And in case you weren’t already familiar with John Daly, he used to be about twice as heavy as a conventional golfer. Just this year, though, Boccieri Golf has introduced a somewhat lighter Mid-Weight series, cutting the overall heft down by about a fourth. (I’m actually currently testing the CX2-MW version for an upcoming equipment review.) Coincidentally, Big John is also less big after having laparoscopic band, or lap-band, surgery late last year. Since the surgery, he’s dropped about 40 lbs. The result of a leaner putter wielded by a leaner golfer was Daly’s best finish since winning the BMW International in 2001. For those of us pulling for Daly to resurrect his career and his life, this is all good news. Let’s hope the lap-band and the flat stick continue to work for him. Comments:
UPDATE: Dly fired a 68 at the Irish Open, and is in the hunt again this week. From The Golf Channel website:
"I feel like I'm doing better with the putter. I chipped and putted pretty good," said Daly, playing his third tournament in Europe while serving a six-month PGA Tour suspension.

If Johnny really wants to putt well, he needs the Torpedo! I know he practices left-handed and even putted left handed for some time on tour. I am a better putter left handed (one-handed) with the Torpedo that John is with two!
