Thursday, June 18, 2009, 8:06 (EDT): Tiger Woods snap-hooked his drive on the first tee at the U.S. Open at Bethpage Black.

Golf pundits, pedants, and poobahs have begun asking the tough questions:

Is Tiger in a slump?
Is Tiger’s knee healthy?
Is Elin pregnant again?

The random speculations and minute analyses will not end any time soon…or at least not until his next good shot…

Don't forget the curmudgeons and the canines. Tiger is playing like Tiger, with a double, a birdie, and a par putt left on #7.

He hooked his opening drive by that much? Might be time to ditch Hank Haney...

Remember that no single major matters to Tiger once it's completed. He's through to the third round, will be looking to make a move (65) to get to -2 and make Barnes think. He also understands that he has a full year of competition to completely recover from the surgeries. In addition, he came second at the last major at Hazeltine and third at the last major at Birkdale, so who honestly cares what he does at Bethpage?
