Handing down the legacy of sports blogging

The rewards of blogging are myriad. People often ask me which of the cornucopia of blogging perks is most rewarding: Fame? Fortune? Unimaginably hot (and numerous) groupies?

Upon reflection, I realize that I would trade all of these benefits in exchange for the opportunity to shape the youth of this great nation, nay, of the entire, magnificent planet.

Just as the Walpiri of the Australian outback, the Inuit of the North Atlantic, and the Annang of Coastal Nigeria pass along elaborate narratives containing eons of history from generation to generation, so too do we bloggers seek to hand down our great and noble blogging traditions to those who type after us.

So imagine my joy when my nephew began his own sports blog, called The Miller Report.

Apparently the young man’s first-hand observations of his old uncle’s aforementioned fame, fortune, and unimaginably hot (and numerous) groupies had an effect on him after all. (And I wasn’t sure he could actually even read…)

Ahh…Some days, you have to settle for fame, fortune, and unimaginably hot (and numerous) etc., etc.

But other days, well, you just might get a chance to mold the very clay from which the future is formed. Life, as they say, is good.

UPDATE: I just discovered that my nephew didn’t even know about this blog. Awkward…
